Describe how you would incorporate an Online Project/Collaboration Site/Publishing Opportunity in your
classroom: I would incorporate an online project/ collaboration site/publishing opportunity in my classroom
by collaborating with other teachers at my school on lesson plan ideas that support online learning. Currently,
most classrooms allow the students access to computers, laptops, chrome books, or Ipads in the classroom,
so I would incorporate use of those tools in my daily instruction. For example, the iEarn teachers guide has a
lot of great tips for teachers when using online tools in their classroom. A resource like this would help me
come up with ways to keep my students engaged when learning math and allowing them to try different
learning tools surrounding the material.
For this lesson, I would allow my students to work collaboratively with a small group and work out a set of
equations dealing with multiplication of multi-digit numbers. The students would be given a set of equations
and a set of answers typed out on paper and then laminated, then work with the members in their group to
match the equation with its correct answer. This is an idea based on tips given in the iEarn teacher guide.

What technologies would be required to implement this proposed learning activity in a classroom?
Computers, Chrome books, laptops, ipads, ect.

Describe how the following features are addressed in this learning experience (note: all of them may not be
addressed in the project, but most should be if you are reaching a high LoTi Level).
a. Collaboration with peers, near-peers, mentors outside their classroom and often beyond their
school: The students would be working on the equations in small groups.

b. Student-centered learning and knowledge creation (creating original data and or producing original
products as a result of engaging in a project): Student knowledge would come into play when solving
the equations.

c. Higher-order thinking: This task would require group problem solving to mutually decide on the
correct answer for each equation.

d. Students publishing their original work to others who will use/care about their product: The students
may be able to share their final answers with another small group and compare and contrast.

Universal Design for Learning (UDL): The activity I planned for my students will meet the needs of all
students by allowing them to work collaboratively in a small group setting. This would also allow me as the
teacher to answer student questions in a smaller setting and be able to see which students are understanding
the material. Another way I could incorporate the needs of all students would be to allow them to work in
partners if a group setting is not an environment where they feel like they would thrive.
Lesson idea implementation and Internet Safety Policies: The iEarn teacher guide is a tool for teachers to use
to generate new and innovative learning tasks. The internet safety policies of iEarn ensure the safety of all
students and if my future students were to use this learning tool during their small group activity then I would
be monitoring their use of the laptop or computer.
Reflective Practice: I think this lesson will impact student learning by allowing them to be creative and think
outside the box when solving their equation. I think many students thrive in hands on activities so I hope that
by allowing them to participate in a hands-on activity with math will inspire them to use this method when
solving equations in the future.
