The educational planning process was enumerated by Sir Joseph Briez. Identifying the
institution's objectives is the first stage. This is an important phase since it will serve as the
foundation or root of all subsequent decisions. Every action that they will take will be guided by
the objectives. Without knowing why, the institution lacks a solid foundation and set of ideals.
When determining the objectives, educational planners must consider the big picture, and each
plan must be applicable over a long period of time, which I believe is one of Filipinos'
vulnerabilities. Filipinos have such a short-term vision that we are pleased as long as we can
survive on a daily basis. We are not establishing any long-term plans, which may leave us exposed
to the ever-increasing needs of a rapidly changing world. Similar to our current position,
pandemic leaves us with little time and space to examine potential solutions and preparations
for fulfilling the needs of the new normal schooling, which may be avoided if we just assume that
such events would occur in the future given in some research that pandemic occurs exactly every
100 years starting from 1720, 1820, 1920 to 2020.
Moreover, the second stage is identifying the various activities to achieve the stated
objectives. Without actions, you are just going around the circles. Nothing productive is
accomplished; you are simply wasting your time and effort. People talk about planning, thinking,
and coming up with new ideas, but they don't take action, as a result it is useless, and nothing
gets accomplished. We need to take a step back and strategize instead of just writing down all
the plans.
The final step is to assess the results. There should always be an evaluation before, during
and at the end of every program and activity. Every action's level of success is reflected in the
evaluation. It's time to figure out which parts to retain, revise, and improve. That is also why the
school improvement plan includes crucial indicators or key indicators for determining if the plan's
goals and objectives were met. It's also not just about demonstrating success; it's about figuring
out why things don't work and learning from the failures.
For an instance, in our School Continuous Improvement Plan, we begin by stating the
project's objective after gathering data and identifying the problem. Then, using the root cause
analysis, we enumerated the actions for achieving the objective. While the program is still
ongoing, the team leader and we, the members, are reviewing and evaluating the process.
Therefore, in educational planning, we must follow these stages since there is no short cut to
success; we must first assess all the elements and aspects before designing a plan in order for
the project to be fruitful and worthwhile.
