questions carefully, you don't need to do any research before answering, just your stock knowledge or you
can honestly tell if you really don't know yet.
1. What does VMGO stand for?
A: The VGMO stands for Vision Mision Goals and Objectives.

2. What activities in school can you still remember?


A: There are a lot of activities in school I was a senior high school in MPCF-LC from every year of
celebration of the foundation of the school, Maritime Week, Intramurals, Event in Valentines'
Day, and lot more.

3. What core values of MPCF can you recall? How can you practice it?
A: The core values of MPCF-LC are Discipline, Competence, Social Responsive/Responsibility,
Loyalty, and Honesty.

4. Who was the founder of Mariners Polytechnic Colleges Foundation? What do you know
about him?
A: Commodore JAIME C. JIMENEZ, Sr. was the founder of MPCF-LC. He is a retired officer of the
Philippine Navy, Chief Marine Officer, and a serious campaigner for quality education. He was
the former President of the Philippine Maritime Institutions (PAMI), a conglomeration of
maritime education in the Philippines, and Chairman of Philippine Commission on Government
Reorganization (PCGR). Commodore Jimenez believed that the youth must be given the best
education so they will become effective leaders of tomorrow. Hence, in 1974, he opened the
Mariners Polytechnic School in Manila with an initial enrollment of 35 students. Commodore
Jimenez decided to transfer the school in the Bicol Region to help fellow Bicolanos develop into
quality seaman. From the first batch of 52 Bicolano seaman cadets, the enrolment continuously
grew that paved the way for the birth of the three school campuses at Naga City. Despite its
being identified as a maritime school, the three schools offers both land and sea-based courses.
The Mariners' System [official] upholds the honor code, "DO NOT LIE, CHEAT, OR STEAL", and
instill the core values of discipline, competence, and social responsiveness among its people.

5. Why is it important to learn about the history of MPCF LC?


A: It is important to know what is the history of MPCF-LC in order for me to have a deeper
understanding of how it builds, who was the person who starts to build this institution, what
are the achievements of the school, and so on.
6. With all of these preliminary questions I asked, what do you think is our first lesson in our
course, Philippine Literature?
A: With all these questions, I think our first topic would be getting to know the
MPCF-LC.

2. What do you expect to learn from our course, Philippine Literature?

A: I expect to learn from this course are, What is the history of the Philippines, What are the different genres in
Literature. What are the different types of literature and a lot more.
