1.8 Chapter Summary

This chapter introduces a pandemic crisis like H1N1 that affects people in almost every

country. This study focuses on how Malaysians are affected by the H1N1 influenza

pandemic, including the possibility of changing wealth management. The next chapter in

Chapter 2 will focus on more information on research-related topics.

CHAPTER 2
LITERATURE REVIEW

2.0 Chapter Introduction

This chapter will be outlined the past researchers on the topic of swine flu pandemic 2009,

H1N1 perceived impact on the household consumption decision making. It will begin with

the definition of the H1N1 and wealth management followed by how the pandemic impact

the Malaysians’ household in the field of consumption decision making towards income

shock, wealth shock, health shock and consumer confidence during the pandemic period.

The remaining of this chapter is organized and divided into few sections to discuss. Section

2.1.1 will discuss about the perceived impact of household on consumption decision making

during pandemic. Section 2.1.2 until section 2.1.5 will be elaboration on the economic factors

such as income shock, wealth shock, health shock and consumer confidence. Section 2.2

explained about the theoretical model as well as proposed conceptual framework in section

2.3. While 2.4 will be on the hypotheses devolvement and lastly, chapter summary is on the

section 2.5.

2.1 Review of Literature

A simple human pathogen that has caused severe illness in respiratory and death over the past
