Majestic Monuments of India


1) Mysore Palace
The Mysore Palace, Karnataka is popularly known as
the the Maharajah’s Palace, situated at the city center
at Mirza Road. Mysore Palace is one of the most
fascinating monument of Mysore city. The other
name of the Mysore Palace is Amba Vilas and is the
largest palaces of India. Mysore’s Wodeyar
Mahararajas resided in the Mysore Palace of
Karnataka.The Mysore Palace is a three storied
edifice with a length of 245 feet and breadth of 156
feet. The Mysore Palace at Karnataka comprises of a
sequence of arched square towers enclosed by
domes. The original palace of Mysore was carved out
of wood which was accidentally burnt in 1897. The
24th Wodeyar Raja rebuilt the Mysore Palace of
Karnataka in 1912. The Mysore Palace followed the Indo-Saracenic style of architecture.
2) Sun Temple of Konark

The main temple structure and the geometrical


patterns are all around the temple.The carved wheels
and the spokes of the wheel serve as sun dials.
Architectural figures including the war horses, the
elephants and the guarding lions are at the
entrance.The three images of the Sun God are at three
directions of the temple to catch the rays of the Sun at
dawn, noon and sunset.

3) AdalajVav is a five-storey step-well on the


outskirts of Ahmedabad. Perhaps the finest stepwell
in Gujarat, Adalaj was built in 1555. What makes this
stepwell the most beautiful amongst other is its series
of platforms and galleries built on the side of the
stepwell. Flight of the steps leading to circular tank,
entrance pavilion at the ground level and well at the
lowest level are the three distinctive feature of Adalaj
stepwell. The stepwell is one of its kinds in Gujarat
as it has three entrance stairs that lead to the stepped
corridor. All three entrances of the stepwell converge
at the first underground storey in a square platform
where tourists gather to savory beauty.

Aihole, Karnataka.
Home to over 125 beautiful Chalukyan temples
and monuments, Aihole is a historical site in
Bagalkot, Karnataka. It was declared a UNESCO
World Heritage site and is surrounded by
marvellous sandstone hills and villages on the
banks of the Malaprabha River. It was formerly
the capital of the Chalukya Dynasty with over
100 Hindu and Jain temples dating back to
around 6th to 12th century. Today, Aihole is a
prominent centre for temple architecture and
intricate stonework.
Aihole, known initially as Ayyavole or Aryapura, played a significant role in Hindu mythology. Besides Hindu and
Jain Temples, Aihole boasts of a rock-cut Buddhist monument and a monastery dedicated to Lord Buddha. The

1) Murud Janjira Fort


Murud Janjira Fort is a mighty
