LESSON PLAN IN ENGLISH 7

I. Objectives:

At the end of the lesson the students will be able to:

a. identify the different strategies in reading academic texts from a variety of literary

form.

b. appreciate the purpose of strategies when reading academic texts through

reflection.

c. demonstrate learning using strategies in reading academic texts through oral

recitation.

II. Subject Matter

Topic: Strategies in Reading Academic Texts

Materials : Power point presentation, cellphone or laptop

Time allotment: 1 hour.

III. Procedure:

A. Preparatory Activity

 Opening prayer

 Greetings

 Checking of attendance

 Review of the past lesson

B. Motivation

The teacher presents a set of rambled letter. Teacher let the student to arrange

these rambled letters to form a words.

C. Developmental Lesson

1. Activity

The teacher present a short text “ Little Red Riding Hood” and “ A Silly Man”.

The teacher assign students to read it before class. 3 minutes to do this.

2. Analysis

In the first text the teacher ask these following questions:

 Who saves little Red Riding Hood?

 Who is the girl who likes red hats?

 Who sees little red riding hood in the forest?

 Who wears grandma’s glasses and clothes?

 Who asked little riding hood to see her grandma?

In the second text the teacher ask the student about their opinion.

3. Abstraction

Present the objectives.

Present new topic.

Get ready the power point presentation

 Summarizing
 Synthesizing

 Outlining

4. Application

Through a quiz, the teacher let the student to examine the text and apply those strategies

tackled.

V. Evaluation / Assessment

The teacher ask the students to make an outline of the text presented.

IV. Assignment / Agreement

The teacher assign to write a reflection that answers these following question:

 What is the purpose of those strategies tackled in reading academic texts?

 How those strategies make an impact on your reading skill?
