National Police Academy: Objectives
National Police Academy: Objectives
AIM
To design a premier Indian Police Service officers training academy to provide
world-class police training, committed to significant enhancement of its
facilities and buildings, essential for world-class Police Training.
OBJECTIVES
To create a new and suitable environment to accommodate the increasing
number of volunteering individuals and train the preliminary, refresher and
advanced police courses.
To provide for an important centre where new ideas and modern techniques
are tried out, tested and put into effect while ensuring systematic and
progressive training both physically and mentally.
To effect an awareness about the glorious past of the academy, the services
rendered by this institution to the police department and subsequently to
the nation as a whole.
To arrive at effective solutions to the problems presently faced by the
existing academy and incorporate them in proposed design along with
inference from the studies.
JUSTIFICATION
‘A Million Mutinies Now’ - that’s how V.S Naipaul, the Nobel Laureate
described India. Indian society is a behemoth, bursting at seams due to rising
aspirations beset with multifarious internal contradictions. Kudos to the Indian
Police that it smoothens the ruffled surfaces and provides a seamless level
playing field to the common poor.
The needs and demands of modern-day societies have evolved, and it is very
important for police training academies to keep up with the practice of the
police profession.
Police academy training and education develops the minds, career goals, and
attitudes of future law enforcement officers who will be in charge of social
order.
Higher education adds value to police training as it reinforces the development
of critical thinking skills and the necessary values needed to face the needs and
demands of society, particularly in terms of accountability, professionalism,
and legitimacy.
Any social edifice is built on the backbone of a non-partisan, efficient and
effective police and policing practices and here comes the role of Police
Academy.
