How Indian celebrate New year

Every new year comes with new challenges and opportunities. The New Year
implies that the time has come to bid farewell to the previous year and welcome
the New Year. In general, the New Year was celebrated on March 1st of each year.
But, with time this date was changed to January 1 because it is considered to be
more mathematically accurate for record maintenance. With the spread of Western
culture around the world, New Year's Day on January 1 in the Gregorian calendar
has become one of India's numerous festivals.

The day is praised by various names all over India — individuals in Maharashtra
commend it as Gudi Padwa, while Kashmiri Hindus celebrate it as Navreh. In
Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka, it is praised as Ugadi, Sindhis commend it as Cheti
Chand, and in Punjab it is Baisakhi. As per Hindu mythology and calendar, the
seasons follow sun, months follow moon and days follow both moon and sun.
Thus, New Year is celebrated as per the position of sun and moon and the New
Year begin with first day of Kartik Maas.

Thus, with the position of this solar and lunar system, Indian New Year is decided.
India celebrates New Year at different time at different places. There is a separate
New Year days in various parts of India with names as Ugadi, Gudi Padwa, Vishu,
Puthandu, Pohela Boishakh, Bihu, Baisakhi, etc. This reflects the India’s rich

districts of India. Recognition is controlled by whether the lunar schedule is being
followed or the sunlight based schedule. Those locales which follow the Solar
schedule, the new year falls on Baisakhi in North and Central India, Rongali Bihu
in Assam, Puthandu in Tamil Nadu, Vishu in Kerala, Pana Sankranti or Odia
Nababarsa in Odisha and Poila Boishakh in Bengal in the long stretch of the
schedule, i.e., Vaishakha. For the most part, this day falls during fourteenth or
fifteenth of the month of April.

Those following Lunar calendar consider the month of Chaitra (corresponding

to March-April) as the primary month of the year, so the new year is praised on the
principal day of this current month like Ugadi in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana,
Karnataka and Gudi Padwa in Maharashtra. Additionally, not many locales in India
think about the period between consecutive Sankarantis as one month and hardly
any others take the period between consecutive Purnimas as a month.

In Gujarat the new year is commended as the day after Diwali. According to the
Hindu Calendar, it falls on Shukla Paksha Pratipada in the Hindu month of Kartik.
According to the Indian Calendar dependent on Lunar Cycle, Kartik is the main
month of the year and the New Year in Gujarat falls on the principal splendid day
of Kartik (Ekam).  Across the world, New Year is celebrated on 1st January. The
