HORIZONTAL CENTRIFUGAL PUMPS


BOTH ENDS SUPPORTED -A :
A- After 1000 running hours or 3 months whichever earlier
.Check for bearing lubricant (for water contamination and sediments) -1
.Check for Oil ring for performance -2
.Check Deflector for looseness -3
.Check for Constant level oiler for leakage -4
.Check for Mechanical seal for leakage -5
Check for Seal flushing/ quenching system (of mechanical seal) for clogging and -6
.chocking
.Check for Gland for leakage -7
.Check for cooling water flow in both the bearing housing -8
Check for Condition of bearing by sound and temperature (in running condition). -9
10 -check for Performance of all measuring instruments (pressure or temperature
.gauges and flow meters)
.Check for Coupling Guard -11
.Check for Electric Motor load current -12
.Check for Axial position indicator (in case of multi stage pump) -13
.Check for Dowel pins (in position or not; wherever provided -14
B- After 4000 running hours or 1 year whichever earlier
Repeat all checks per No: a -1
Check Flushing of bearing with lube oil and refilling of oil to required level, -2
.whether carried out or not
Check Flushing of cooling water lines and strainers, whether carried out or not (to -3
.ensure proper flow of cooling water)
.Check Foundation, foundation bolts and supports -4
Check Replacement of old packing with new ones and condition of gland follower, -5
.lantern ring and sleeves (in case of gland packing)
Check Condition of coupling, coupling bolts, nuts, spring washers and their -6
.conformity to uniform size. Change grease in half coupling in case of gear type
C- After 8000 hours or 2 years whichever earlier
.Repeat all checks per No: b -1
Check Condition of outboard bearing, lock nut and lock washer (in case lock -2
.washer found damaged and lock nut loose, shaft axial play shall be checked)
: Check Following items of Journal bearings -3
a) Check High spot (High Spots shall be scrapped)
b) Condition of thrust bearing, lock nut and lock washer (in case lock washer found
.damaged and lock nut loose, shaft axial play shall be checked)
.Check Inspection of bearings (replace the bearings if necessary) -4
.Check Pump float (adjust if necessary) -5
.Check Oil filter for cleanliness if journal bearings are hydrodynamic -6
.Inspect condition of mechanical seals -7
.Check Alignment (Misalignment shall not be more than0.05mm) -8
Check Painting of equipment, whether carried out or not -9
:Notes
I) After completing the checks listed above the pump shall be started and the
following shall be checked during the trial run (the trial run duration shall be half to
:one hour for electric driven and 3 to 4 hours for diesel driven)
.a)Check Discharge pressure
.b) Check Suction pressure
c) Check Liquid flow (if possible)
d) Check Condition of mechanical seal/ gland packing
e) Check Electric Motor load current at discharge valve shutoff and open condition
f) Check Condition of bearing by sound and temperature
g) Check Any leakage
h) Check Vibration and shock pulse reading
ii) Pumps in hot service shall not be rotated unless it is gradually heated up to a
.temperature close to that of the working fluid
D- After 16000 hours or 4 years whichever earlier
complete overhauling of the pump shall be carried out. This shall include
part-wise inspection as per item ‘V’ and all checks specified for 8000
.hours
OVERHANGING TYPE: -B
:A-After 1000 hours or 3 months whichever earlier
Check Oil in bearing housing for water contamination and sediment (replace oil -1
.if necessary)
.Check Oil ring for proper working -2
.Check Constant level oiler for proper working -3
.Check Gland packing (for leakage) -4
.Check Condition of mechanical seal -5
.Check Cooling water flow -6
.Check Condition of coupling guard -7
.Check Condition of bearing by sound and temperature -8
Check Electric motor load current (at discharge valve shutoff and open -9
.condition)
Check Performance of all measuring instruments (pressure/ temperature -10
. gauges and flow meters)
.Check Greasing of bearing; if bearings are grease lubricated -11
:B- After 4000 hours or 1 year whichever earlier
.Repeat all checks per No: 1-1
Check Flushing of cooling water lines and cleaning of Strainers, whether carried -2
.out or not (to ensure proper flow of cooling water)
.Check Condition of coupling (in decoupled condition) -3
.Check Coupling end support for any abnormality -4
.Check Foundation, foundation bolts and supports -5
.Check Alignment (Realign, if necessary) -6
Check -Performance of all measuring instruments and recording of readings 7
.Check Suction line strainer for cleanliness -8
C-After 8000 hours or 2 years, whichever earlier
complete overhauling of the pump shall be carried out. This shall include partwise
.inspection as per item ‘V’ and all checks per item 2
