who came to the UK for various reasons.
Throughout two decades, going on holidays was the main(primary) purpose of UK
visitors from oversea(overseas). The number kept increasing from 7 to 14 million except a

friends and relatives, which accounted for a relatively small part of the whole UK vsitors.
The number of friends’ visitors reached highest(the peak) in 1994 and 2009 which was both

Although family has powerful influence on children, influence from outside the family
plays a bigger role in children’s development. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Family education is crucial during the growing process of children from infants to older
teenagers. At virtually every stage of (children’s childhood)growing process, parents set
examples for their young and have powerful influence on them. However, many people
argue that (external factors)the role of influence from outside the family weighs more
heavily than the family itself. I strongly agree with the former because I think education from
parents has a lifelong impact on the next generation.
To begin with, family keep shaping children as who they are from an extremely early stage
once they were born, not just physically, but more importantly, mentally. For example,
parents can teach their children common knowledge, (情态动词 can 后面不能加 to)to
distinguish right from wrong, to hold accountable for their actions, and to cooperate with
others in order to achieve goals, which are building blocks of their personalities and
characteristics. Besides, the company of parents is extremely important especially when
their children are at young ages. What children get from their parents is unconditional love
which is the source of courage and helps them face difficulties in their later life.
On the other hand, influence from outside the family is sometimes considered to be more
significant than family education itself. School education, for example, is also essential for
the growth and development of adolescents. The society-like structure of school provides
students an environment where they can learn how to interact with other people. However,
children’s behavior are easily affected by their peers, and problems such as peer pressure
are not easy to handle. 缺乏 example
In short, although school education is important on(for) the development of children,
nothing compares the influence of family towards the growth of adolescents.
