Some people believe that a great difference in age between people and children is more beneficial.

Do you
think the advantages of a greater difference in age between them outweigh the disadvantages?

It is a matter of contemplation whether age difference between the parents and children should be greater or
lesser. A school of thought advocates that a large gap between the age of adults and the off springs is
advantageous, however, as per my perception a greater age difference has way more drawbacks than its
positive aspects. There are compelling reasons to hold this opinion which will be elucidated in the
subsequent paragraphs.

To begin with, the generation gap plays a significant role in holding families together. To elaborate, the
mentality and lifestyle of the people change as per time and mutual understanding will be a hard nut to crack
if there is more difference in generations. For example, in our neighbourhood, there are old parents who had
their children quite younger and they could not cope up with the way their children used to live, therefore,
all of their children left them alone. In spite of this, if the ageing rift is less, then the families are expected to
have healthy relations and better understanding.

In addition to this, a small gap in the age of elder ones and younger ones in families have incredibly helped
those children excel in their academic and professional careers. To further explain, a person's knowledge and
experience should be up-to-date in this advanced technology era and if the parents are not too older then it
becomes obvious that they will assist them to compete in this fast-paced world. For instance, younger
couples are nowadays focusing on teaching their children about the computer and technology by being their
mentors. Hence, younger parents can provide adequate learning experience according to the contemporary
era.

To conclude, the generation gap plays a major role in defining the strength of relationships among the family
members and the exposure of the children. As mentioned above, less the age difference, more is the
understanding and affection between adults and youngsters. Therefore, I believe that the disadvantages of
greater generation gap outweigh its advantages.

WRITING TASK 1
The vertical bar chart elucidates information about how many people visited New York City through three
major airports (John F. Kennedy, La Guardia and Newark), over a six-year period between 1995 and 2000.
Overall, it can be seen that over the period, there was a fluctuant trend in the number of passengers who
travelled via John F. Kennedy airport, while the other two airports encountered an upward trend. Another
interesting point is that LaGuardia airport was the most popular at the end.
Looking at the detail, the number of travellers at John F. Kennedy airport started at 26million in 1995, and
then amplified remarkably to reach the highest point of 47million in 1997. In 1999, the figure dipped to
32m. At the last year, there was a slight growth to 44m. On the other hand, LaGuardia began at 35m in 1995,
after that it rose remarkably for the next three years, at 46m. In 2000, LaGuardia hit the peak point at 68m
travellers.
However, if we look at Newark airport, it started at the lowest point of 16m passengers in the first year.
After this point, the trend increased significantly to 42m in 1998. In the last two years it remained stable at
42m travellers.
