128. One mole of an ideal monatomic gas undergoes a linear process A  B shown in the p  V indicator
diagram.

Find the volume of the gas when the process turns from an endothermic to an exothermic one.

129. Volleyball of mass m and volume V is inflated with overpressure p. When the ball is thrown up to a height
h , it falls down, hits the ground, and again bounces to the same height. Find the maximum temperature rise
of the ball during the hit. Temperature of the surrounding air is T0 and consider air as an ideal diatomic gas
and denote its molar specific heat at constant volume by Cv .

130. Inside a long cylinder, n = 0.5 mole of an ideal mono-atomic gas is trapped with the help of an airtight heat-
insulating piston. The curved wall of the cylinder is made of a heat conducting material and the circular base
is made of a heat insulating marital. The piston is connected with left wall of the cylinder with an elastic
rubber cord of negligible relaxed length and force constant k = 25 N/m. The cylinder is placed in an airtight
evacuated oven and then oven is switched on.

The piston is stopped at a distance  0  1.0 m from the left end of the cylinder, rate of temperature increase
of the gas is measured and then the piston is released. If this rate of temperature increase is r0  0.08 K / s ,
find speed of the piston after it is released.

131. A gas takes part in two processes in which it is heated from the same
initial state 1 to the same final temperature.
The processes are shown on the P-V diagram by the straight line 1-2
and 1-3. 2 and 3 are the points on the same isothermal curve. Q1 and
Q2 are the heat transferred along the two processes. Then in which
case will the heat transfer be more.

132. Find the pressure of air in a vessel being evacuated as a function of evacuation time t. The vessel volume is
V , the initial pressure is p0 . The process is assumed to be isothermal, and the evacuation rate is equal to C
and independent of pressure.
Note:- The evacuation rate is the gas volume being evacuated per unit time, with that volume being
measured under the gas pressure attained by that moment.

133. A smooth vertical tube having two different sections is open from both ends and equipped with two pistons of
different areas. Each piston slides within a respective tube section. One mole of ideal gas is enclosed between
the pistons tied with a non-stretchable thread. The cross sectional area of the upper piston is S = 10 cm2
greater than that of the lower one. The combined mass of the two pistons is equal to m  5.0kg. The outside
air pressure is p0  1.0atm . By how many kelvin must the gas between the pistons be heated to shift the
pistons through l  5.0cm
