MEASUREMENT
Mrs. Conchita Edjan
HELLO, DEAR STUDENTS!
WELCOME TO OUR
CLASS!
I hope you are as ready as I am to start learning and
have fun. We're in this together, so let's respect and
support each other.
SYSTEM OF
MEASUREMENT
System of Measurement is a set of units
which can be used to specify anything can
be measured.

These are common units of measurement

used in making layout and installation of
electrical materials.

B. ENGLISH UNITS AND EQUIVALENTS
12 inches = 1 Foot (Ft)
1 Yard = 3 Feet
1 Yard = 36 Inches
C. METRIC UNITS AND EQUIVALENTS
10 Millimeters = 1 centimeter(cm)
10 Centimeters = 1 Decimeter(Dm)
10 Decimeter = 1 Meter
C. ENGLISH TO METRIC EQUIVALENTS
1 inch = 2.54 Cm
1 Foot = 30.48 Cm
1 Yard - 91.44 Cm
CONVERTING THE UNIT OF
MEASUREMENT FROM ENGLISH
TO METRIC AND VICE VERSA
EXAMPLE: EXAMPLE:

1. 12 inches = ____cm 2. 5 feet = ____inches

Since, Since,
12 inches = 2.54 cm 6 feet = 12 inches
1 inch 1 feet
12 x 2.54cm 6 x 12 inches
1 1
Therefore, Therefore,
12 inches = 30.48 cm 6 feet = 72 inches
EXAMPLE:

2. 582 millimeter = ____cm

Since,
582 millimeter = 1 cm
10 millimeters

582 x 1 cm
10
582 cm
10

Therefore,
582 millimeters is = 58.2 centimetes
CENTIMETER GRADUATION
The graduation shows that every digit is 1 mm.
How to read the cm
graduation:

1. First graduation is 1 mm
2. Second graduation is 2 mm
3. Third graduation is 3 mm
4. Fourth graduation is 4 mm
5. Note: If the graduation
matches 10mm, it is
equivalent to 1 cm.
INCH GRADUATION
How to read the inch graduation:

1. First graduation is 1/16 inch

2. Second graduation is 1/8 inch
3. Third graduation is 3/16 inch
4. Fourth graduation is 1/4, then follow
the given scale in the picture.
