* Use black ink to write the content, coloured pens may be used to write
headings/subheadings as required.
* Glitter pens/sketch pens are NOT to be used.
* The work may be submitted in one spiral bound file.
* The points given must be duly covered.
*Choose any one out of the two given topics must not exceed 1000 – 1500 words in total.
* Deadlines are important. Submissions on or before 30th July 2021.

topics that enhanced my knowledge and understanding of many new things.
I understood how works of Literature express inner human desires, our failings and
achievements.
Most importantly, I would also like to thank my parents who supported me in my efforts.

Drama: Lust for power has truly corrupted the hearts of Alonso and Antonio.
Discuss the statement with reference to William Shakespeare’s ‘The Tempest’.
[Points to cover:
-Introduction to the play in 100-150 words – when written -how received by the people in its
time -popularity of Shakespeare.
-Alonso – King of Naples, powerful -craves Milan/enters into an alliance with Antonio to
exile Prospero -annual tribute from Antonio -further expands his power with Claribel’s
marriage to the King of Tunis – an alliance she did not want/forced to accept out of
obedience -concerned with expanding his power and not with emotions/integrity.
-Antonio -betrayed the trust of his brother who was like a “good parent” -details of his
behaviour to become the Absolute ruler of Milan -plans to kill Alonso to further secure his
position -to come close to Sebastian -stop paying the tribute to Naples -800-1000 words.
- Conclude: -Alonso repents on losing Ferdinand.
-Antonio -no remorse shown till the end - Your understanding/comment on how ambition for
power may be destructive/dehumanise people. – one page.]

Prose/Poetry: Comment on the contrasting attitudes of human beings to animals as


displayed in the story ‘A Gorilla in My Guestroom’ and the poem ‘Dolphins’.
[Points to cover:
-Introduction: Short account on the two writers of the two pieces -in 200-250 words.
-Compare the role of the author and his family/staff with that of the man at the dolphinarium
keeping in mind –
(i) concern for other creatures
(ii) understanding of nature
(iii) emotions involved (use quotations to support your work)
(iv) commercial considerations of the ‘man’ in the poem and the author in the short story -
relevant quotes are necessary -800–1000 words.
-Conclusion: -Your personal experience of the treatment of animals -perspective on how as
supposedly superior beings, humans have not shown humanity -or- all hope is not lost as
there are compassionate people -one page.]
