Answer the following questions. This is a closed book exam.

(Q.1) A 25-kVA, 2400/240 V, 50 Hz, single phase transformer operating at no load in step up
mode draws 150 W at a power factor of 0.25 lagging. Determine i) the exciting current and
its components, ii) the equivalent magnetizing reactance and core loss resistance. [10]

(Q.2) What will be the shape of output voltage of a transformer if you apply a square wave
(AC voltage) in the primary side? Explain your answer. [5]

(Q.3) Explain the transient behaviour of a transformer during loading. [5]
