Reflection #1: 21st Century Education
To some extent, it would be difficult to fully elucidate 21st century education
as it is constantly growing. However, after reading multiple studies about it, I can conclude that 21st century education is a preparation for students to the economical, technological, and societal changes that are constantly happening at a fast-pacing world in education.
In the 21st century education, learners are a combination of different learner
characteristics which molds students to mitigate ignorance that will bring forth enjoyment of a high quality of life, career, and relationships by being buoyant, assertive, creative, and confident learners who understand the value of collaboration, the relationship of effort to results and most importantly the need to grow and learn continuously.
Moreover, technological advancements are constantly growing in this era
and so as a teacher in this new era requires being adaptive and always a one step ahead of his/her learners. Teachers work as a facilitator, the one to teach students value of technology integration in classroom but not to neglect the cons of it. As an educator, what I value most in integration of technology inside a classroom is how it increases students’ engagement with the use of different technological strategies in relation to instruction.
In this unfolding pandemic, educational system will be hooked to Distance
learning. Educators, researchers, and state leaders strongly believe on the idea of “Maslow before Blooms.” It is undeniably true for the reason that learning should never be stopped even in the midst of a health crisis. Educators are adaptive to the changes and needs of this era to be prepared and demonstrate Distance learning effectively.
Furthermore, a set of skills, standards, outcomes, and knowledge will ensure
student’s success in the midst of this 21st century learning era and pandemic. One must be able to utilize multiple literacy skills and organizational skills to enhance learning. It is also indispensable to apply current learning to new situations to be able to synthesize multiple pieces of information.
It is indeed a challenge to view learning as powerful, continuous, and
enduring in this trying times. However, 21st century education creates dynamic learning for every learner to make the most out of their potentials to take responsibility and ownership for learning and demonstrate successful learning characteristics in their academic, social, and emotional lives.
