DISPARLON 6900-20X is a dispersion of swollen particles of a unique synthetic polyamide wax. It is easily
incorporated into many vehicles and/or solvents and develops an exceptionally strong and long lasting
thixotropic structure.

APPLICATIONS: DISPARLON 6900-20X is particularly recommended for suspension and anti-sag

in enamels and clear topcoats which require maximum gloss. 6900-20X can be
used in almost all solvent based synthetic resin paints and coatings, including
alkyds, urethanes, epoxies, acrylics, acrylic/melamines, acrylic/urethanes,
tar/epoxies, chlorinated rubbers, vinyls, oil-free alkyds, unsaturated polyesters and
acid-cured alkyds. 6900-20X is recommended for both high solids and
conventional systems.

TYPICAL USAGE Recommended levels by weight of paint:

LEVELS: As an anti-settling agent: 0.5-2.0%
As an anti-sagging agent: 2.0-5.0%

INCORPORATION: It is very important to incorporate 6900-20X with a minimum of air entrapment.

The presence of air could interfere with the dispersion of the 6900-20X and inhibit
its performance. It is most effective if dispersed under shear to a fineness of grind
of 7 Hegman. It can be incorporated as a master batch or a premix. Care must be
taken not to overgrind 6900-20X as this can result in reduced activity.

A. Resin and solvent master batch: To determine the ratio of the

resin/solvent/6900-20X, make the solution very thick at the start and dilute to
point of ideal mixing. Typically, this can be done with 70 parts resin, 18 parts
solvent and 12 parts 6900-20X.
B. Pre-mix: Add 6900-20X to mill paste after the final grind has been achieved
and mix thoroughly at high speed. Mill pastes usually have the consistency
necessary to allow high speed mixing without vortexing to blade.

FORMULATING NOTES: In systems containing high concentrations of alcoholic solvents, such as wash
primers or inorganic zinc rich primers, 6900-20X is not as effective and
DISPARLON NS-30 should be used.

SHELF LIFE: 12-24 months from the date of manufacture, when stored at ambient conditions in
the original container.

 HANDLING & DISPARLON 6900-20X contains some low boiling alcoholic solvent. Keep the
STORAGE: container tightly closed and store in a cool dry place, away from sunlight at 25-
