Question No1:
In fig-1 x-section of retaining wall for basement of a shopping mall is shown. Grid size is 17’x17’.
Clear ceiling height is 10’+R. Proportion the retaining wall and apply all checks. Unit weight of soil is
19KN/m3,Angle of repose is 330,angle of internal friction is 300, allowable bearing capacity is (57+S)/7
psi. Surcharge may be ignored. Concrete is C-25 and steel is grade 420.

Refer to fig-II plan for a column supported slab is shown. Design hatched panel. It is a 3 storey
commercial plaza. Interior columns are 600x600 mm , edge and corner columns are 450x600 mm.
Assume DDM is applicable. Concrete is C-27 and steel is 420 Mpa.
Question No4
Design Footing for column C2 shown in Fig-II. Allowable bearing capacity is (70+S)/980 Mpa. Depth
of footing is 5feet. LL reduction is 30%. Remaining data is same as question No3.
