Q1- The magnitude of resultant of two vectors of equal magnitude becomes √3 times when the direction

of one vector is reversed. Find the angle between the vectors.

Q2- The V-t graphs of two objects make angles of 300 and 60 0 with the time axis. Find the ratio of their

accelerations. v

Q3- Two equal forces have their resultant equal to either. What is the inclination between them?

Q4- A ball falls from 20 m height on the floor and rebounds to 5 m. Time of contact is 0.02 second. Find

acceleration during impact.

Q5- What is the angle between A and B , if A and B denote the adjacent sides of a

parallelogram drawn from a point and the area of the parallelogram is ½ A B.

.Q6- An object has uniformly accelerated motion What will be the velocity - time graph for

the motion of the object if u is (-) and a(+).

Assertion-Reason Type questions
Directions: In the following questions, a statement of assertion (A) is followed by a statement of
reason (R). Mark the correct choice as
(a) If both assertion and reason are true and reason is the correct explanation of assertion
(b) If both assertion and reason are true but reason is not the correct explanation of assertion
(c) If assertion is true but reason is false
(d) If both assertion and reason are false.

Q.7 Assertion : A body can have acceleration even if its velocity is zero at a given instant of time.

Reason : A body is momentarily at rest when it reverses its direction of motion.

Q.8 Assertion : A positive acceleration of a body can be associated with slowing down of the
body.

Reason : Acceleration is a vector quantity.

Q.9 CASE STUDY: WORK DONE BY A FORCE ( SCALAR OR VECTOR)

Work is a measure of the energy transfer that occurs from or to an object when an external force
applied moves the object over a distance. For a work to be done there must be a force exerted
and there should be displacement in the direction of the force. From this, we can define work as
the dot product of the component of force in the direction of the force and the magnitude of the
force. W= F.d Here, W = Work F = force d = displacement Both force and displacement are
vector quantities. That means force and displacement have both magnitude and direction. Since
work is a product of force and displacement “Is work a Vector or Scalar?”. Work is nothing but
the energy generated. Work has only a magnitude but no direction. The formula for work is
written as a dot product of force and displacement. Therefore, work is a scalar quantity.

Q. (a) A force of 10 N acting at an angle of 30 degree with horizontal on a body lying on smooth ground,
displaces it through a distance of 5 m. Work done in this case in Nm is

Q(b) What should be the angle between force and displacement to get maximum work?

(i) 30o
(ii) 60o
(iii) Zero
(iv) 90o

Q.(c) What should be the angle between force and displacement to get minimum( zero) work?

(i) 30o

(ii)60o

(iii) zero

(iv)90o

Q. (d) What should be the angle between force and displacement to get half the maximum work?

(i) 30o

(ii)60o

(iii) 90o

(iv)45o
