STRUCTURE
1. Definition
A biography, or simply bio, is a detailed
description of a person's life. It involves
more than just the basic facts like
education, work, relationships, and
death; it portrays a person's experience
of these life events. and may include an
analysis of the subject's personality.
2. Function
To know a person’s story about his / her
life outside of any accomplishments this
person may be known for and to give lots
of information easily and to educate the
readers.
3. Characteristics
a. Biography is not written by subject
and is always written in third person
b. Biography is based on the fact that a
character's life experience contains
the story or history of a character in
his or her life, whether it is in the form
of strengths, problems or deficiencies
written by other people so that it
should be an example.
c. Biography describes the person's
surroundings (where, when and how
the person lived).
d. Biography uses vivid language to
narrate events.
e. Clear language must really be
applied in a biographical text to avoid
mistakes in the information
presented.
5. Generic Structure
a. ORIENTATION (INTRODUCTION)
It is the opening paragraph, gives the
readers the background information
of the person. Usually contains
narrated biodata such as full name,
place and date of birth.
b. EVENTS
In events, it should be a chronological
order. This stage is part of the events
or events experienced by the
character. It contains an explanation
of a good story in the form of problem
solving, career processes, and various
events that have been experienced by
the character to lead to success.
c. RE-ORIENTATION (CLOSING)
It consists of a conclusion or a
comment or the writer. Tell about the
contribution or the contribution of the
person. In closing, this section
contains the views of the author of the
narrated character. This
authentication is optional, so there
may or may not be.

1. Explanation
Historical recount is a kind of recount
text which explains about the
chronological events occurred in the past
and is closely related to the history of a
place or an object which is very
memorable and considered important
throughout life.
2. Function
- To describe past historical experiences
- Tto perform all-interpretive aspects in
the historical recount

a. What is Fable?
It is a fictional story with animal as the
character but speak and act like human
being and has moral lesson conveyed to
readers
b. Social Function
To entertain/amuse the readers and
convey moral lesson/message
c. Characteristic
- at least one character makes a bad
decision
- Using simple plot and character
- Involving a character who is sly or
clever
- Using animals or elements of nature
(non-human characters) as the main
characters who act and talk just like
people.
- Containing a moral or lesson
- Using personification where Non-
human characters can talk or show
human characters
- Containing a funny and amusing story
- Reflecting cultural beliefs

a. Description
A legend is an event that is believed by
society to be a historical event related to
the myth of a culture.
b. Social Function
To entertain or to amuse the readers
about the interesting story.
c. Characteristic
1) A fictional story
2) set in a specific place or time
3) It was told orally and handed down
through generation, then turned into
literary masterpieces
4) Usually there is some historical truth
at the heart of every legend
5) The main character is often heroic, a
human, not a God
6) Heroes usually strength and
intelligence. Exaggeration is usually
involved in retelling deeds.
7) Heroes often give up dreams of
happiness to help others
8) The hero is real but some parts of the
story are not completely true. They
have been stretched or expanded
upon.
