MY PERSONAL PHILOSOPHY AS AN EDUCATOR

JEFTA YANUAR RANDRY

Every child is a precious asset for every parent. The parents expect that the children can
grow well in good character, developing social and individual abilities. Moreover, children are
also special to God. It is written in Marcus 10: 16, “And he took the children in his arms, placed
his hands on them, and blessed them”. It shows that children are a valuable creature for God. I
have an experience that a mother told me that her precious asset is when her child is well educated.
In this point, education is important for children.
Education relates to learning and teaching activities. As an educator, I believe that teaching
is not only transforming knowledge but also developing, enriching, supporting the life aspects of
the children. It means that a teacher has a serious and noble responsibility when they teach children.
As an English teacher, English is an important subject which will be a benefit for them because
everyone should able to understand and speak English nowadays. By learning English, the students
will able to possess English skills such as writing, reading, speaking, and listening. I believe that
one of those skills will be helpful in the students’ future. Moreover, they will know how to speak
politely and maintain harmonious relationship by using a language. By teaching the students, I
want to inspire them to push their limit in achieving a knowledge and grow their life aspects
mentally and spiritually.
Learning is an interaction between the learners and the educator. This is a process the
learner acquire knowledge from the educator and other resources. By developing attractive
learning activities, it can help the learner gain the core of the study. In this case, the necessary part
that I must do is make an appropriate lesson plan for the meetings. For evaluating the learner, I
believe that a good attitude in learning will affect the learner in absorbing knowledge. As a result,
I will evaluate first on the learners’ attitude, then focus on the cognitive, affective, and
psychomotor elements. Moreover, inclusive learning is important for the learner who have
different needs. It will help them to encourage their ability, seek out their talent, have equal
learning based on their needs and help them to survive in real life.
A learner is like a half glass of water that needs to be filled up. In this case, a successful
learner is influenced by an educator because the belief and knowledge that educators share can
affect the learner's mind directly. My expectation that I can develop, motivate, and support the
learner to be a good person to others and can glorify God’s name. As an educator, I will support a
learner as much as I can. For example, if I use one learning method that is not fit to a learner, I
must change the method that will make them understand. It means that we need to have many ways
to make a learner have a better understanding. In my English class, I want my learner to be able to
apply my English skills as much as they can. So, they will not be outdated due to a lack of English
understanding. As a motivating quote, I will tell learners that if you can speak and understand
English well, your life is more precious. I believe that if learners know English well, they will have
wider knowledge and more experience about world view. Finally, the goals for myself are I have
a desire to be a good educator from time to time which can inspire, motivate my learners to do
their best in life, respect others by using a language in appropriate way, and especially remind
them to have a close relationship with God as the main source of all knowledge in the world.
