“SIN”

I. BIBLICAL TERMINOLOGY (OLD AND NEW TESTAMENT)

Bible is consist of old and new testament. They are complementary. They are related

to each other. We can not separate them with ourself understanding. Then, come to the topic

of sin. It was occured when the first creatures broke the rule of God. There are some terms in

Old and New Testament which is related to sin. They bring us to the similar concept of sin. It

stated that sin relates to status of human’s rebellion against God and leading to their

disobedience to God. According to Old Testament, it states that sin is a failure, a deviation, a

crookedness. It is an action that committed against God’s will, and an action against Him.

According to Psalm 51:4 David shows us the classic definition of sin that says sin is primarily

an act of going against the will of God. Sin as a result of rejecting God. Then, let see what is

the concept of sin in New Testament. Sin is rebellion against His lordship. It is evidence that

someone reject the God’s authority in his life. The source of sin is a denial of God. It will

lead human on to the other wickedness. Sin is the result of man’s choice. We do it

consciously by choosing bad choice in our life. Cetainly, it will be the part of us because we

decide to do something freely. Sin is an evil product that we choose it. It is clearly shows that

there is no big differences about the concept of sin in Old Testament and New Testament.

II. THE NATURE AND ESSENCE OF SIN

The Bible shows that nature and essence of sin is when we are separated from God.

The condition that there is no close relationship with Him. Because of the fallen of the first

creatures, the sin is placed in the human heart such as selfishness, raising itself pride defy

God. Sin should be realized as the out relationship with God. There are several points of sin.

It says that sin is revolt against God, broken relationship, state that pervades the whole human

being,a spesific act of evil, falling short of God’s expectations, lawlesness, selfishness and
pride, an enslaving power, and guilt and pollution. The points above show that how terribly

sin affect our life especially our relationship with our creator.

III. Consequence of Sin

There are three consequences of sin. They have affected to human beings,

environment and God beings. It affects Adam and Eve, human race and Physical world.

Adam and eve have lost their privilege, convenience with God. Sin brought them into

alienation from God. The effect of sin in human race are there are so many humanity

struggles today such as war, hatred, discrimination and etc. Then, sin bring out earthquake,

tsunami and other natural catastrophes.

IV. The extent and Elimination of Sin

Sin has effect all aspects of our life in this earth. It brings bad effects to our universe.

Our entire race lives revolt against God. The universality of sin shows that human tend to be

agaist God, hate kindness, and practicing violation. If there is mistake, it will be a

punishment. God expressed His justice to the human who against Him by punishing them. It

was happened to Adam and Eve that they got punished by God beacuse of their bad choices.

The God’s wrath shows us that He loves us. By the sacrifice of Jesus, we know that He loves

us.

IV. The Reflection

The lessons that i got from this topic are we should hate sin. It makes us far away

from God. We should ask God’s helping to avoid against Him. Basically, sin brings death.

Yet, we have to grateful to God because of His grace through Jesus Christ, we still alive

today. He gives us the chance to turn back to Him. Moreover, this topic helps me to more

understand our students if they have mistakes, just take care of them, helps them to be better.

Then, it helps me to be better teacher. It means i should do my best so that i can get good

thing in my life and become blessing to others.
