1. a). How do you determine whether a distribution is discrete probability? What are the phenomena that 3.0

can be identified in Bernoulli’s processes? Write the properties of Binomial Distribution.

Explain P(X=x) = nCr p q . If the mean of Binomial Distribution is 20 and its Standard Deviation
is 4, then find n, p and q.

2. a). Explain correlation, multiple correlation and regression. Interpret the values of the Correlation 1.5 + 2
Coefficients (r).
b). What are difference between Permutation and Combination and how do you relate the nPr and nCr?. 2+2
Find the number of permutations and combinations, if n = 12 and r = 3.

3. a). Distinguish the “Binomial Distribution” and “Poisson Distribution”. What are the characteristics of 1+1.5

b). What is “68-95-99.7 Rule” and how do you explain the “68-95-99.7 Rule” of Normal Distribution 2.5+2.5

in Math terms? If the adult intelligence scores are Normally distributed with μ=100 and σ=15
i.e. X~N (100, 15), then find the values of “68-95-99.7” curve and visualize it.

4. a). How a normal distribution can be converted into the standard normal distribution? Explain. 2.5

b). If four coins are tossed simultaneously, then what are the probability of getting No head, No tail, 2.5
Two heads and Four tails?
c). Out of 7 consonants and 4 vowels, how many words of 3 consonants and 2 vowels can be formed? 2.5

a). Distinguish with examples the Discrete random variable, Continuous random variable. What do you mean
by the Continuous Probability Distributions?
b). How do we explain n! i.e. n! = ?. Find the values of nPn and nCn.
c). In how many different ways can the letters of the word 'CORPORATION' be arranged so that the vowels
always come together?
d). What are the 4 requirements needed to be a binomial distribution? When binomial calculation becomes
impractical?
e). Explain the 68-95-99.7 AUC Rule of Normal Distribution?
f). How to determine that your collected data are approximated by a normal distribution?
g). If the values do not fall directly on σ landmarks, then how to determines the Normal Probability?
h). What are usual methods used to determine a regression line? If the least square equation is given by
y = a + bx, then how to get the values of “a” and “b”?
