fabrics, one of the greenest fabrics in the
world.
At present, RIL converts more than
2 billion post-consumer PET bottles
into fibers annually. With addition of
Srichakra capacity RIL will be instrumental
in converting about 5 billion used PET
bottles into value-added fibers.

US Manufacture Growth in July
Mumbai: Economic activity in the US
manufacturing sector grew in July, with
the economy notching a 14th consecutive
month of growth, the country’s supply
executives said in the latest Manufacturing
ISM Report on Business. Seventeen of
18 US manufacturing industries reported
growth in July. The only industry reporting
a fall in July compared to June was textile
mills.
The report was released recently
by the Tempe, Arizona-based Institute
for Supply Management’s manufacturing
business survey committee.
The July manufacturing PMI
registered 59.5 per cent, a decrease of 1.1
percentage points from the June reading
of 60.6 per cent. This figure indicates
expansion in the overall economy for the
14th month in a row after contraction in
April 2020.
The new orders index was 64.9 per
cent, decreasing by 1.1 percentage points
from the June reading of 66 per cent.
The production index registered 58.4 per
cent, a decrease of 2.4 percentage points
compared to the June reading of 60.8 per
cent.
The prices index was 85.7 per cent,
down by 6.4 percentage points compared
to the June figure of 92.1 per cent, which
was the index's highest reading since July
1979 (93.1 per cent).
The backlog of orders index
registered 65 per cent, 0.5 percentage
point higher than the June reading of 64.5
per cent. The employment index registered
52.9 per cent, 3 percentage points higher
compared to the June reading of 49.9 per
cent.
The supplier deliveries index
registered 72.5 per cent, down by 2.6
percentage points from the June figure
of 75.1 per cent. The inventories index
registered 48.9 per cent, 2.2 percentage
points lower than the June reading of 51.1
per cent.
The new export orders index
registered 55.7 per cent, a decrease of
0.5 percentage point compared to the June
reading of 56.2 per cent. The imports index
registered 53.7 per cent, a 7.3-percentage
point decrease from the June reading of
61 per cent.

Mumbai: Maisons Du Monde, had
reported 35.5 per cent sales growth to
€662.6 million in first half (H1) of FY21
ended on June 30, 2021, against prior
year. Online sales for the six-month period
surged 44 per cent to €268.2 million
representing 40 per cent of total sales.
The Gross margin increased to
€431.9 million (€312.6 million), while
operating profit expanded to €41.6 million
(loss: €5.8 million). The company’s profit
for the first half was €20.5 million (€20.4
million). The Sales from France in H1
FY21 grew 31.8 per cent to €332.2 million
(€252.1 million), while international sales
were up 39.5 per cent to €330.4 million
(€236.8 million).

Weavers comeback
in Warangal
Mumbai: Around 364 weaver families
who returned from Surat in Gujarat is one
of self-empowerment.
After the formation of Telangana state,
many weavers returned to their home state
following initiatives for weavers announced
by the newly-elected Government.
These families established Kakatiya
Weavers Cooperative Society and urged
the Government to allot land to set up
power looms.
After a long wait, which lasted more
than five years, the Kakatiya Weavers
Cooperative Society has 364 power loom
units spread over 60 acres in Madikonda
village of Warangal Urban district.
The power loom textile park provides
employment to around 5,000 people
directly and 4,000 indirectly, in the units.
Of the 364 weavers, 160 started
loom work. The weavers made Batukamma
sarees in 40 loom units.
The remaining units were usually
employed for work in the private sector.
According to Weavers’ Association,
the State Government has ordered
12,50,000 meters of Batukamma sarees,
which have to be delivered by October
2021.
All the loom units have shared
the work for this order equally, and are
producing 1000 meters every day.
