acquiring the Retail & Wholesale Business

from the Future Group as going concerns
on a slump sale basis for lumpsum
aggregate consideration of INR 24,713
crore, subject to adjustments as set-out
in the composite scheme of arrangement

as part of the Scheme in which Future India’s biggest MMF Textiles Trade Show
Group is merging certain companies

the last few years.

2018-19 fiscal year, the target for cotton
cultivation was 3,500 hectares while 3,105
hectares of land were brought under cotton
farming.
Around 16,696 bales of cotton fibre
were produced from the land. Earlier, the
target for cotton cultivation was 2,465
hectares of land in the 2016-17 financial
year, but farmers brought 3,200 hectares
of land under cotton cultivation. Around
18,265 bales of cotton fibre were produced
from 3,200 hectares.
The target for cotton cultivation was
3,500 hectares in the 2019-20 fiscal year.
About 3,125 hectares were cultivated.
Around 19230 bales of cotton fibre
were produced from the land. In the current
fiscal year 2020-21, 3,200 hectares of
land have been brought under cotton
cultivation. Farmers have already started
sowing seeds.

The Net sales of Pima totaling
12,600 RB were primarily for Peru (4,400
RB), India (3,300 RB), Vietnam (2,600
RB), China (900 RB), and Bangladesh

The Exports of 10,200 RB were
primarily to China (2,400 RB), Vietnam
(2,200 RB), India (1,900 RB), Pakistan
(1,700 RB), and Indonesia (900 RB).
For 2020/2021, The exports for own
account totaling 17,100 RB primarily to
China (10,700 RB) and Malaysia (3,300
RB) were applied to new or outstanding
sales.
The current exports for own account
outstanding balance of 13,600 RB is for
China (8,700 RB), Indonesia (3,900 RB),
and Bangladesh (1,000 RB).

Textiles Committee organizes webinar
to facilitate domestic PPE Industry
New Delhi: The Textiles Committee,
which is a Statutory Body under the
Union Ministry of Textiles conducted
an awareness Webinar titled “Meeting
Challenges of PPE Export Market” for
educating the exporters and the domestic
PPE industry by giving them a broad
overview about the various regulations of
other countries.
Since the PPEs are categorized as
Medical Devices and are governed by
intricate regulations in various countries,
a need has felt to understand these
regulations and collect them in one
place for appropriate dissemination and
capacity building of the domestic industry
to prepare them for the quality conscious
export market.
The Directorate General of Foreign
Trade (DGFT) has issued a notification,
thereby amending the Export Policy of
Personal Protection Equipment/Mask
allowing free export of 2/3 ply surgical
masks, medical coverall of all classes and
categories (including medical coveralls
for COVID-19) as well as gowns and
aprons of all types. Further, a monthly
export quota of 50 lakh has also been
allowed for export of N-95 / FFP2 Masks
or its equivalent. The webinar highlighted
the various requirements of PPEs
(Masks, Respirators and Coveralls) like
classification, manufacturing, certification,
documentation etc. within the framework
of regulations of the major export markets
i.e. the US and the EU. Besides it also
gave a brief overview on regulations in
other important export destinations like
Australia, Canada, Japan and South
Africa.
This webinar was attended by
more than 250 participants from the PPE
and textile industry. Speaking on the
occasion, Secretary, Textiles Committee
Shri Ajit B. Chavan informed that under the
dynamic leadership of Union Textiles Smt.
Smriti Irani and guidance of Secretary
(Textiles) Shri Ravi Capoor, it has been
the endeavor of the Textiles Committee
to continuously work for facilitating the
domestic PPE industry.
He further informed that the Textiles
Committee has also succeeded in getting
NABL certification in favour of its Regional
Laboratory at Ludhiana to undertake
testing of Coveralls and Masks for critical
test parameters ‘Resistance of protective
clothing material to penetration by blood
and body fluids’ – using synthetic blood
as per 2 International and one Indian
standards viz. ASTM-F-1670, ISO- 16603
and IS16546 respectively.
With the addition of Ludhiana
Laboratory, now the Textiles Committee
can undertake Body Coverall testing at
three locations viz., Mumbai, Bengaluru
and Ludhiana.
Textiles Committee has also been
accredited by NABCB for undertaking
inspection of Body Coveralls for domestic
and international markets and that the
Textiles Committee is in a position to
facilitating the domestic industry in
giving consultancy services required for
preparation of documentation dossier

regulators for placing their PPE products
in international markets, he added.

This is the second in a series
of webinars planned by the Textiles
Committee across country to facilitate
awareness about international regulations
and other requirements for export of
PPE to US, EU and other important

Through painstaking efforts of the
domestic industry and the Ministry of
Textiles and its constituent organizations
like the Textiles Committee, the Office of
the Textile Commissioner, Central Silk
Board, etc., India has emerged as the
second largest producer of PPE (Body
Coveralls). India has also significantly
invested in the manufacturing of various
Masks.

The venture brought the stores
together and it made perfect sense to have
their space right beside a place that sold
sewing machines. This venture facilitated
customers to buy products from the same
store ranging from threads to rotary cutters,
needle threads and fabrics. It has become
the one-stop-shop.
All the labor workers including
workers that made fabrics were paid
equal wages. All the fabrics in the store
are made out of natural fibers and are
dyed using regulated environmentally
friendly chemicals. Now the customers
can take pride that their products are
biodegradable and the products that are
not biodegradable are recyclable.
The fabrics are made out of bamboo,
organic cotton, hemp and other organic
materials. They also have ChitoSante
which is a material made out of crab and
shrimp shells. She is proud to announce
the store will soon introduce vegan leather
made from cactus plants.
