Divisibility Rules

Rules of 2 = An Even Number

Rules of 3 = Sum of digits must be divisible by 3

Rules of 4 = Last two digits must be divisible by 4

Rules of 5 = last digit must be 0 or 5

Rules of 6 = Even number ; sum of digits must be divisible by 3

Rules of 7 = group 3 digits from the right.

Alternately – and + them. Result must be divisible by

7.

Rules of 8 = Hundreds digit must be even. Last two digits must be

divisible by 8.

Rules of 9 = Sum of digits must be divisible by 9.

Rules of 10= Last digit must be 0.

Rules of 11=

Sum of digits in the odd place – Sum of digits in the even place.

The result must be divisible by 11.

Rule of 12 = Sum of digit must be divisible by 3 and

Last two digits must be divisible by 4

Rule of 13 = Group 3 digits from the right. Alternate – and + them.

Result must be divisible by 13

Rule of 14 = Must be an even number.

Group 3 digits from the right, alternate – and + them.

The result must be divisible by 7.

Rule of 15 = end with 0 or 5, sum of digits must be divisible by 3.

Rule of 16 = Thousands digit must be even, last three digits must

be divisible by 16. (or)

Thousand digits is odd, last three digits plus 8 must be divisible by

16.

Rule of 17 = Last digit multiply by 5 and subtract it from the rest.

The result must be divisible by 17.

Rule of 18 = Think like 9, It must be an even number.

Rule of 19 = Last two digits multiply by 2 and add to the rest. The
result must be divisible by 19.

Rule of 20 = tens digit must be an even number and ones digit is

zero.
