•August 24, 1910 :ITC was incorporated under the name Imperial Tobacco Company of India Limited
•1970: The name of the Company was changed from Imperial Tobacco Company of India Limited to India

•1974 : changed to I.T.C. Limited
•1975 : the Company launched its Hotels business with the acquisition of a hotel in Chennai which was
rechristened 'ITC-Welcome group Hotel Chola'
•1979: ITC entered the Paperboards business by promoting ITC Bhadrachalam Paperboards Limited
•1990: ITC acquired Tribeni Tissues Limited, a Specialty paper manufacturing company and a major supplier of
tissue paper to the cigarette industry
•2000 :ITC spun off its information technology business into a wholly owned subsidiary ,ITC Infotech India
Limited
•2002 : ITC launched line of premium range of notebooks under brand Paperkraft
•2003 :ITC's foray into the marketing of Agarbattis(incense sticks)
•2005 :ITC entered the Personal Care Business
•2010:ITC launched its hand rolled cigar ,Armenteros
•2011: Padma Bhushan for Mr Y. C. Deveshwar, Chairman of the Company
•2012:ITC bestowed 2012 World Business and Development Award
•2014:ITC ranked as the most admired company in India in (Fortune-Hay Group survey)

Chairman – Introduction
Y C Deveshwar
• Y C Deveshwar(66) joined ITC in 1968 and Is an
alumnus of the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi and
Harvard Business School
• He was appointed as a Director on the Board of the
Company in 1984 and became the Chief Executive and
Chairman of the Board on January 1, 1996
• Between 1991 and 1994, he led Air India as Chairman
and Managing Director.
• Under his leadership, ITC became global exemplar in
sustainable business practices and is the only company
in the world, of comparable dimensions to be 'carbon
positive', 'water positive' and 'solid waste recycling'
