Philippines.

In the 19th century, the growth of our nationalism has begun and also this year our
hero Jose Rizal has been born. This is the age of enlightenment among our Filipino
ancestors, where middle class families have arisen and has been educated. Also,
the Philippines is under the ruling of Spaniards at this time. The Filipino people is

Our country has been under to the extreme deprivation of rights as being a

Filipinos. The corrupt government officials are unwavering all over. There is no

justice for underprivilege and only those wealthy people can obtain the so-called

justice by the means of money they cannot even fight for there right because

there is no room for them inside the court. Racial discrimination and forces labor

among the brown skin are rampant to treat them differently due to race is
unlawful. The so-called voluntary service to the church at the age of 16-60 is

clearly not voluntary but involuntary to render their services to friars they are

forced and not willing to do labor. We are being slaves by their own hometown
before. Brown skin people are subjected to slavery and exploitation they are even

called “indios” or fool in other term.

By the help of some illustrados like Rizal and other reformist they fought our country
without cape and sword but by the use of just a piece of pen and paper. The
novels he wrote that time open the mind of the Filipino’s people to fight back to
the injustices they undergo. To bring back the honor and rights of the owner of
the motherland. They use their God given talents in writing and giving hope giving

hope to all the Filipino people who relies on them to stop all the injustice of the
Spaniards. Because of these patriots, Filipinos get what they deserved of having
independence from the ruthless Spaniards for 3 centuries. Without these people,
maybe until the present time, we are still colonized by the Spaniards. We give
thanks to the people who sacrificed their lives, especially Rizal, to fight for the
independence of the country. We would not enjoy our independence right now
if these people do not make any movements.
