Course Syllabus
Subject: Biblical Theology

Class: M.Div. II Course Instructor: Subaraj Chandran

Semester: II Total Credit Hours: 3

Course Description:

Bible is a unique book and it is an important criterion for the faith and practices of Christians Though many
men put their minds and hands to write the Bible, yet it is considered that God is the sole author of it. Bible
is the written word of God, a direct revelation (message) from God to human beings. The period that God
took to communicate some of his message to the human being seems to be very long but few he choose to
communicate within the shorter period of time. Since it is very important book, Active, Living, Powerful
and has the creative power and has authority similar to God, it becomes all the more important for us to
know and to have a thorough knowledge about it. In this course, we are going to study some of the important
theological themes which contribute the wholeness of the Bible; also we will be looking at some of the
themes that are only particular to some of books of the Bible.

Course objectives: At the end of the course the student will

Have an understanding of meaning of Biblical theology and see it as a distinct discipline

Know the History and the development of this particular system of theology

Understand the models of Biblical theology as formulated by different scholars

Explain the key Biblical themes in Two Testaments

Be able to learn to use Biblical theology in the preaching ministry

Limitations:

Since Biblical Theology is a very vast subject it is difficult to study all the areas of it within the limited time.
Hence we will be concentrating on only few areas that are vital to this subject, especially focusing on few
theological themes
