perform the initial configuration again if errors appear in the results.

47. After the configuration has completed successfully, click Finish to complete the
configuration process.

48. Close the web browser to end this web session and then wait about 10 minutes
for the NetBackup services to restart.

You have completed the configuration of the 5240 master server.

Exercise C: Adding a 5340 media server appliance to a master

In this lab exercise you will add support for a NetBackup 5340 as a media server to the
configuration using the Appliance Web Console.

Before you configure a new Appliance for the Media server role, you must first update the
configuration on the master server that you plan to use with it. The changes allow for appropriate
communication between the master server and the new media server.

Note: If the Appliance has more than one host name, you must add all the names.

Adding additional servers to a master server

In the steps that follow , you will add the console and nb5340 media server host to the list of
known hosts on the nb5240 master server.

1. Open a command window from the console system desktop.

console.example.com UserID: Administrator Password: P@ssw0rd

2. Enter the ping command to verify that the production network interface is up
and available.

Command: ping 10.10.2.25

Note: You should be able to successfully ping the 5240 Appliance on its production
interface. If you can successfully ping the production interface on 5240, then
continue on with this lab. If the ping fails, seek assistance.
3. From the console.example.com desktop, launch the Mozilla Firefox Web
Browser and enter the URL of the eth1 interface that you just configured on the
5240.

https://10.10.2.25

4. You will receive a security warning about an untrusted connection.

Note: This is expected because we are connecting via the production interface (eth1)
for the first time.

5. Click the Advanced button.

6. Confirm that you wish to proceed by clicking the Add Exception button and
then clicking the Confirm Security Exception button.
7. Log in to the 5240 master server as the administrator using the default
credentials. (User name: admin, Password:P@ssw0rd)

Note: You can safely ignore any hardware warning messages.

Note: The login page provides the fields to enter your login credentials and also
includes links where you can access NetBackup Appliance Product Information and
documentation. The Download Packages section of the login page indicates
whether there are NetBackup client packages stored on the Appliance that can be
installed on clients. Starting with Appliance version 2.6.0.2, NetBackup clients are no
longer included with NetBackup Appliance release updates. The Browser
Recommendation section of the login screen verifies and displays a confirmation if
the NetBackup Appliance Web Console supports your browser. The NetBackup
Appliance Web Console and the IPMI console use pop-up menus. If you use pop-up
blockers with your Web browser, some of these menus may not display properly.
You must disable pop-up blocking or add the Appliance Web address to the list of
acceptable sites in your browser. The web browser should have active scripting
(ActiveX and JavaScript) enabled. The NetBackup Appliance Web Console supports
Internet Explorer versions 11.0 and later, and Mozilla Firefox versions 31.0 and later.

8. From the NetBackup Appliance Web Console click Manage and then
select Additional Servers.

Manage > Additional Servers

9. Click the Add button to open the Add Additional Server dialog.
10. In the Server Name field, enter the fully qualified host name (FQDN) of the
Appliance media server that you want to add and click OK.

Note: Note that FQDN is nb5340.example.com.

11. Repeat the process in steps 9 and 10 to add the console host to the server list.
That FQDN is console.example.com. Add the short names also.

Additional Servers Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN) & Short Name

12. Note: It would not be necessary to add the console server to the server list on the
master if we were only using it for the NetBackup Administration console. However,
in this lab environment, console.example.com is also an OpsCenter server and
therefore needs permission to collect information from the master server Appliance.
13. Once all of the hosts have been added to the master server, log out of the
Appliance Web Console using the Logout link in the upper right-hand corner.

Exercise D: Configuring a 5340 media server Appliance

In this lab exercise you will configure a NetBackup 5340 Appliance that is new or has been reset
to the factory defaults (Factoryreset). A NetBackup 5340 Appliance can only be configured as a
media server.

Performing the initial configuration on a NetBackup 5340 Appliance from the NetBackup
Appliance Shell Menu

Note: A NetBackup 5340 Appliance can only be configured as a media server.

1. On the console sytem, launch the PuTTY application by clicking on the shortcut
located on the console desktop.
2. Select the nb5340.example.com (Unconfigured) saved session and click Load.
3. Click Open.

Note: Do not use the nb5340 saved session at this time as this references the
production interface, which has not yet been configured.
4. Log into this appliance using the default username and password.

Note: Remember that the username is admin and the default password
is P@ssw0rd .
5. After you log on, the Appliance Shell Menu welcome message appears in the

Exercise F: Launching the NetBackup Administration Console

In this exercise, you perform the steps to launch the NetBackup 8.2 Administration Console and
login to your 5240 master server Appliance system. You then confirm that you have access to the
master server (nb5240) and the media server (nb5340).

1. If you are no longer on the console system, access the desktop of

the console system.

console.example.com UserID: Administrator Password: P@ssw0rd

2. From the desktop of the console.example.com system, double-click

the NetBackup 8.2 Administration Console icon.
3. Enter the Host name nb5240.example.com, user name (admin), and password
(P@ssw0rd ) of your master server system, and click Login.
4. If a Security Prompt window appears, click Yes to add the master server as a
trusted Certificate Authority and accept the security certificate it is offering.

Note: Since this is the first time the console server has connected to this master
server Appliance, a security certificate may be needed. Because the console server is
recognized and trusted by the master server (recall that we added it to the SERVER
list earlier in this lab) the master server may offer the consoler server a digital
certificate, as shown in figure that follows. The security certificate window may not
appear at this time. This is not a problem and will not affect the rest of the lab.
Note: In NetBackup 2.7.3/7.7.3 and later it is mandatory to have a security certificate
when connecting to a NetBackup host through the NetBackup Administration
Console or the Java Backup, Archive, and Restore user interface. A NetBackup host
security certificate is issued by the NetBackup Certificate Authority (CA) on the
NetBackup master server. Had the console server not been known to the master
server, the connection would have been refused. Refer to the NetBackup
Administrator’s Guide, Volume I for information about NetBackup hosts’ security
certificates and deploying these certificates.

5. Verify that the NetBackup Administration Console is connected to your master

server.

Note: The NetBackup Administration Console window title bar contains the host
name of the NetBackup master server that you have logged in to, and the
NetBackup software version running on that system.

6. Click on the Activity Monitor node in the left-hand pane and review any recent
job activity.

Note: Note that test backups and restores have been run on both the 5240 master
server and the 5340 media server Appliances. This is part of the configuration
process and verifies that the Appliances are fully functional.

7. In the left-hand pane of the Administration Console, select Reports and then
select Images on Media.
8. Click the Run Report button to run the Images on Media report.
9. Exit the NetBackup Administration Console.

Note: The report will return a message stating no entities were found. Although test
backups were performed, the images were automatically expired afterwards.
Exercise G: Viewing software emails

In the next steps, you will access and use the email system used on the console.example.com
host to view the configuration mail sent to the software administrator after completing the
configuration of the Appliances.

Accessing Appliance emails

After the configuration of the Appliance has been completed, emails are sent to both the
hardware and the software administrator’s email address that you entered during the Alerting
and Call Home portion of the configuration process.

Note: Because we are using virtual machines to simulate Appliances in this lab environment, no
hardware emails will be sent and therefore there will be no emails to review in the hardware
administrator’s email account in this lab. Software alerts will be sent out and may be viewed as
normal
