IT’S ENGLISH TIME
In this chapter, we will study: to get attention, to check if we are understood, to show appreciation to
other, to tell what we or other people think of something
From the dialogue,we can see the expression of showing appreciation (Contoh ungkapan
menghargai orang lain dari dalam teks):
1. Your story is very interesting
2. He’s a diligent student
3. That’s a beautiful invitation card
Here are the responses (jawaban dari ungkapan menghargai):

Note : bit dirty (sedikit kotor), big (besar), tidy (rapi), smart (cerdas), talkative (cerewet), cake
(kue), opinion (pendapat), T-shirt (kemeja), delicious (lezat), colourful (berwarna-warni)

a. Possitive sentence (kalimat positif)
Subject + modal + verb 1
Example: You can sing
She will sing
b. Negative sentence (kalimat negatif)
Subject + modal + not + verb 1
Example: You cannot sing
She will not sing
c. Interrogative sentence (kalimat tanya)
Modal + subject + verb 1?
Example: Can you sing? Yes, I can/No, I cannot
Will she sing? Yes, she will/No, she will not
Verb 1 adalah kata kerja asli bentuk pertama seperti sing, try, write, ask, dll.
Cannot bisa disingkat can’t artinya tidak bisa
Will not bisa disingkat won’t artinya tidak akan

Should artinya sebaiknya. Should adalah bagian dari modal seperti halnya can dan will. Jadi rumusan
kalimatnya adalah:

Should not = shouldn’t
