3. Objectives- write the After finalizing this project, learners will master in -

❖ Classifying floating and sinking objects of their surroundings.
❖ Gauging water from various vessels/containers.
❖ Delivering a brief speech on "Save water" on their own.
❖ Showcasing their craft skills by creating paper fish using
waste material.
❖ Designing a poster on "Preventing Water pollution".
❖ Experimenting with water and its properties.
❖ Creating a rain gauge at home.
❖ Categorising various sources of water and their uses.
❖ Expressing themselves through various media.

Configuration of the project -
their project e.g.
Interviews, *This project encompasses four levels L1, L2, L3 and L4. Activities
questionnaire, case have been planned to achieve specific learning outcomes of certain
studies, bar topics from the NCERT textbooks.

disciplines at 4 levels which are supposed to be performed by the
learners at their own pace during the 1st term from June to
September 2021.

*Learners will be assessed individually as per their performances.

Level 1: Beginner

A: Learn the poem " Water we drink and water we use" and also
record the video of your poem recitation.

C: Collect 5 vessels/water containers of different shapes and


measure how many glasses of water do they carry? Jot down your
observations in the following table –

D: " Walking water rainbow" 🌈- In this activity, take 6 glasses of


water, add different food colours/ watercolours as red, green, blue,
yellow etc. to make it colourful. When colour is dissolved, fold
paper towels lengthwise and dip these from one glass to another.
After some time, you can easily see the walking water rainbow
because paper towels soak colours from the water. Now, you have
to note down your observations in the given table -

Level 2: Catching up

A: Listen to "The little fish story" and create a paper fish using waste
material.

C: Once upon a time, there was a king. He was kind and smart.
There were 158 wells in his kingdom but unfortunately, 39 wells
were dried due to summer and 27 were poisoned by the enemies.
The people of his kingdom can live with the water of 130 wells. So,
tell me how many wells are mandatory to be dug?

Solve this puzzle and also create a similar challenge for your friends
on your own.

D: "Floating and Sinking objects" - In this activity, take a few


objects from your surroundings and a half-filled bucket of water.
Now, check each of these objects whether they float or sink in
water. Then, fill in the given observation table by mentioning
objects and putting the tick signs -

A: Read the passage carefully and answer the questions given below
-

"Dabbu is a dolphin. She lives in the ocean and she is very smart.
Dabbu and her friends love to jump in and out of the water. She
likes to click, chirp and whistle when she is happy. Dabbu eats a lot
of small fish every day. Water is her home and she can not live
outside of water."

animals nearby. Then, write a brief report of your research

A: Discuss with your friends and family, write and deliver a short
speech on "Various Ways to save water".

B: "यदद जल न हो तो हमारा जीर्न कैसा होगा और यदद आपके पास अथाह


जल का भंडार हो तो आप उससे क्या क्या करें गे?" इस प्रश्न पर गहन वर्िार
करते हुए कल्पना करें और कम से कम 100 शब्दों में अपना उत्तर ललखिए।

C: Observe your house minutely, mark the corners where water


pipes go, outline the flow of water from taps to drain and prepare a
map of the "Water system in your home". Do mention the length of
water pipes using a measuring tape.

D: Design a poster on "How to stop water pollution". Draw and


colour it beautifully, write quotes, label the ideas and present your
work before your classmates.
