THE ANGEL’S LAKE

Once upon a time, lived a very handsome and brave man named Awang Sukma.
Awang Sukma is a very adventurous person. One day, he wanders up to the middle
of the jungle and built a tree house on a very large tree branch. He was amazed to
see a wide variety of life in the forest. And so he decided to lived there in harmony
and peace.

After living in the forest for a long time, Awang Sukma was appointed as the ruler of
the area and had the title Datu. Once a month, Awang Sukma explored his territory.
In his territory, there is a lake which has very clear water. The lake is located under a
shady tree with lots of fruit. "Hmm, how beautiful this lake is. It turns out that this
forest holds an extraordinary beauty, ”said Datu Awang Sukma.

The next day, when Datu Awang Sukma was blowing his flute, he heard a loud noise
in the lake. Between the piles of cracked stones, Datu Awang Sukma peeked toward
the lake. How surprised Awang Sukma was when he saw 7 beautiful girls are playing
with the water.

"Could they be angels?" thought Awang Sukma. The seven beautiful girls didn’t
realize that they were being watched and didn't pay attention to their scarves, which
were used to fly, scattered around the lake. One of the scarves is located near Awang
Sukma.

"Wow, this is a good opportunity to get a scarf on that tree,"said Datu Awang
Sukma. Without waiting for a long time, Awang Sukma immediately took the scarf
and hid it. However, it seems that Awang Sukma's movements made a noise.

Hearing that suspicious noise, the angels were surprised and immediately took their
scarves. However, one of the girls couldn't find her scarve. With compulsion, her six
siblings left her to return to heaven. At that time, Datu Awang Sukma immediately
came out from his hiding.

"Don't be afraid, my lady, I will help as long as you are willing to stay with me,"
persuaded Datu Awang Sukma. But the youngest angel still hesitates to accept Datu
Awang Sukma's help. However, because no one else was around, there is no other
way but to accept Awang Sukma's help.

Datu Awang Sukma really admires the beauty of the youngest angel. As well as the

decided to become husband and wife. A year later a beautiful baby girl was born and
named Kumalasari. Since then Datu Awang Sukma's family life is very happy.

Finally, the youngest angel made up her mind to return to heaven. "This is the time I
have to go back!," she said to herself. The youngest angel immediately put on her
scarf while holding her baby.

Datu Awang Sukma was stunned to see what happened. He immediately approached
and apologized for the dishonorable act of hiding the youngest angel's scarf. Datu
Awang Sukma realized that their separation was inevitable. "Kanda, please look after
Kumalasari well," said the youngest angel to Datu Awang Sukma. "If our child misses
me, take seven pecan seeds and put them in a basket that is shaken accompany with
the chanting of the flute. I will definitely come to see her soon."said the youngest
angel.

The youngest angel immediately put on her scarf and flew into heaven. Since then,
Datu Awang Sukma vowed to forbid his daughter to raise a black cock which he
considered to be catastrophic.

The moral message that can be obtained from the story of The Angel’s Lake is to try
to get everything you want in the right way. Because if you don't get it the right way,
one day it will be a disaster in your life. Also, never hide or keep bad deeds. At some
point in time, that ugliness will surely be exposed too. It is the same as Awang Sukma
who tried to hide his lies in keeping the angel's scarf. In the end, the angel received a
clue to find her scarf again.
