Operation Instruction

1
1. Principle

After filtering and heating, the air enters into air distributor on top of the drier. The hot air
enters into the drying room in spiral form and uniformly. By passing through high-speed centrifugal
atomizer on top of tower, the material liquid will rotate and be sprayed into the extremely fine mist
liquid beads. Through the very short time of contacting with heating air, the material can be dried
into final products. The final products will be discharged continuously from the bottom of drying
tower and from cyclone separator. The waste gas will be discharged from exhaust fan

2. Features
1. At a high speed of drying, after spraying of the material liquid, the surface area will be increased
greatly. In the hot air flow, 95%-98% of water can be evaporated at a moment. The time of
completing the drying needs only several seconds.
2. This is especially suitable for drying the heat sensitive materials. Its final products own good
uniformity, mobility, dissolving capacity. And the final products are high in their purity and good in
their quality.
3. The production procedures are simple and the operation and control are easy. The liquid with the
moisture contents 40-60% (for special materials, the contents may reach 90%) can be dried into the
powder of particle products for one time. After drying, there is no need for crushing and sieving, so
as to reduce operation procedures in the production and to enhance product purity. The product
particle diameters, looseness and water contents can be adjusted through changing the operation
condition in a certain scope. It is very convenient to carry out control and management.
4. Spray drying process is the widest used in the liquid forming process and in drying industry. The
drying technology is most suitable for powder, particle products from solution, emulsion, SC and
pumpable paste states material. For this reason, when the particle size and distribution of the final
product, their residual water contents, the stacking density and particle shape must meet the
precision standard, spray drying process is one of the most desired processes.

4. Instruction of Spray Drying Structure


1. Heating system consist of steam heater and electric heater,it could get high temperature hot air
after heating exchange by steam heater and adding temperature by electric heater,electric heater
power and total power refer table ,practical heating temperature could adjusted by PLC and touch
screen.
2. Hot air distributor
Hot air distribute(pic1)adapt hot air distribute disk structure of Nino,consist by(1)air conducting
board (2)air adjust hook (3)air distributor (4)cone base. Hot air will into distributor in tangent
direction,and will into spray dryer chamber uniformly under the function of air conducting board
and air distributor.

Adjustment of air conducting board:air conducting board could make hot air in dryer
chamber move in screw type,usually form 25°-30°angle with cone axis,material will stick on
the wall if angle is large. It should change angle before change material.
Adjustment of air distributor:the function of air distributor is to prevent mist stick on the
wall and improve spray efficiency. The space of mist and top of chamber is adjusted by air adjust
hook.
3. Centrifugal atomizer
Centrifugal Atomizer driven by the motor gears, drive shaft and spray plate, It makes
high-speed rotation, the speed can be adjusted in the electrical control cabinet directly .
Material liquid is fed from liquid pump to the centrifugal atomizer feed tube, via liquid
dispenser, spraying continuous and evenly to atomizer plate, thrown at high speed ,forms film,
filaments or drops .At the same time ,it wear by surrounding air , the mist dispersed into uniform
size droplets
4. Drying Tower
Drying tower consists of outer tank body, frame, inner tank body etc. Between outer tank body
and inners’ is inner frame, filling the space fully with silicate filler insulation blankets, the
insulation thickness is 63mm. In order to separate the coarse powder and fine powder, air outlet
tube leads from the cone, the recovery of powder at the bottom of cone is coarse part. At the import
and export of drying chamber equipped with thermocouple respectively, temperature
display ,control instrument installed on the electric control cabinet ,in order to observe the situation
when spraying ,it should be installed lighting and viewing window. And in order to clean easily,
drying chamber should open some holes.
5. Cyclone separator
Cyclone separator is used for separating the powder granule contained in the exhaust gas, the
recovery powder granule drop into pollination tube which located at the bottom of cyclone
separator ,wet air exhausted from cyclone separator via butterfly valve. Butterfly valve installed in
the lower cyclone separator, open butterfly valve when working, cut off butterfly valve when
exchanging pollination tube.
6. Centrifugal fan and adjustment valve
The equipment adopts high pressure centrifugal ventilator, the air flow of fan adjusted by the
butterfly valve installed at air inlet, please take care that should not close butterfly valve
tightly ,otherwise it will damage the electrical heater.
7. Escalator railings
In order to installation,view, cleaning, repairmen easily ,the equipment equipped with escalator

railings, and in order to reduce the measurement of shipping container, we adopts fabricated and
removable style.
8. Electrical control cabinet
The operation and control of Spray drying process concentrated in the electrical control
cabinet ,the electrical control cabinet consists of
Volt meter, ammeter, air switch ,AC contactor ,SCR regulator table, temperature display, control
instrument, SCR large power diodes and so on.
In consider of extending the using life of the electric heater, in order to avoid the temperature of
pipe too high that due to the operation procedure errors, fan and electrical heater switch should be
chain. When starting, fan should be started firstly ,then can connect electrical heater power, after
using ,it must be cut off firstly.

5. The installation of centrifugal spray dryer


The ground should be evenness when install centrifugal spray dryer, put drying tower to the
location which you need, adjust the level on the top of drying tower, and install escalator
railings, air duct, cyclone, electric heaters, airstream heater.
Connect power as the electrical principle chart, put the electrical control cabinet to the
position where is convenience for you to operate, in order to ensure the safety, the earth wire should
bed connect well firstly when install the electrical control cabinet.
Centrifugal fan outlet equips with pipe, according to the condition of workshop, prepared by
the using factory ,make the air vents towards to the outside, it can reduce air moisture content
within workshop, increase the evaporation of dryer, lower the workshop noise

6. The use of centrifugal spray dryer


The Equipment must be cleaned adequately before use, and according to the product’s
requirement to decide whether it needs to be disinfected
The Equipment must be check as following before starting:
1. The link between electric heater and air inlet pipe, air outlet 、 drying chamber、duct with
cyclone ,should be a good pad seal material, and tighten to avoid inhalation of cold air drying
chamber
2. The seal material of drying tower door, and check it whether tight.
3. Install pollination device under the bottom of cyclone and drying tower ,check the seal jar
whether is off, put the seal jar first ,then tighten pollination ,otherwise it will seriously affect the
efficiency of the cyclone. Pollination device must be clean and dry.

A. Running
First ,close air switch , turn the main power ,then open centrifugal fan, electric heater power, and
check it whether leakage oil, if normal operation, preheating as soon as possible, that is because the
temperature determines the evaporation capacity of drying equipment, without affecting the quality
of materials being dried under the premise should be to maximize inlet air temperature.

When the inlet temperature reaches a predetermined temperature ,opens the centrifugal atomizer,
then starts conveying pump, spray water first, make outlet temperature to the predetermined
temperature, to be conversed into liquid rapidly, the liquid flow can be regulated by the motor
installed on the cabinet of convey pump. The flow regulation must be from small to large, very
carefully, otherwise it will produce sticky wall phenomenon, until the exhaust temperature meets
the requirements .The concentration of liquid should be according to the nature of dry
material ,ensure a good fluidity.

The temperature and humidity of drying product, depends on the exhaust temperature. During the
running, ensure exhaust temperature steady is extremely important, its mainly depends on feeding
capacity and inlet temperature ,when liquid volume and inlet temperature are steady, the outlet
temperature generally will be also steady. However, if the amount of liquid containing solid
changes, the outlet temperature will also be change.

If product’s humidity is too high, we can reduce the amount of fluid feeding volume,so that it can
improve the exhaust temperature. As to the low temperature heat-sensitive materials can add
feeding volume, in order to reduce the exhaust temperature, but the humidity of product will be
improved correspondingly.

Dried product was collected in the pollination tube device , exchange pollination tube device before
it fully filled. When replacing the tube pollination, you must close the discharge valve firstly.

When drying moisture products, cyclone and exhaust pipe should be wrapped in the insulation
material, it is necessary to avoid the resurgence of dry powder.

B. Stop
When liquid flow is about to processed completely, close the discharge valve, remove the
pollination tube device, exchange another one, then open discharge valve. Adding clean water into
feeding tube, and adjusting the amount of water which flow into centrifugal atomizer by the mean

time, so that the temperature of outlet keep steady. It is very important, otherwise the moisture of
remained powder will be change.

Using water spray five minutes, after atomization plate and feeding tube be cleaned, switch off the
electric heater, according to the exhaust temperature, stop water supply. Open drying chamber,
clean drying chamber wall and bottom and powder nearby the centrifugal atomizer ,close fan
when all dried products removed from drying chamber.

In order to control the quality of the product, equipment clean is an important part, especially in the
producing milk protein drugs etc material which can be easily contaminated ,it need be cleaned
regularly ,the times of cleaning and thoroughness need to according to the following factors:
1. The kinds of products and product change situation
2. The length of production time.
3. The concentration of liquid and the level of hot air temperature.
4. The situation during equipment using(whether sticky wall, or cooking.
5. When equipment stop using for a long time or exchange different feature products, need make
thoroughly cleaning

7. The maintenance of centrifugal atomizer


Centrifugal atomizer need make steady work under the high rotating, and its maintenance should be
particular notice.
1. If has noise or vibration in the course of using centrifugal atomizer ,please stop immediately
and check atomizer plate whether exist residual material, if has, should check bearings,
bushings and shafts, or if exist exceptions ,should be replaced.
2. In order to extend the service life, should pay special attention to the cleanliness of the
lubricating oil , it is better to using two atomizer in turn ,using eight hours one time or according
to situation to change, Lubricaning oil also should be replaced under the situation.
3. After use, should apart the atomizer plate and liquid separator ,immersed into water, make
residual material clean .As to the residual on spray plate, need to use brush tools to clean when
water cannot wash cleanly, otherwise will lead imbalance ,affect the use of the atomizer
4. When apart atomizer plate ,please pay special notice ,don’t bend the shaft, fixed the spray plate
nut, prevents it fall off.

9. Problems analysis may be exist in production


In the production process, sometimes exists some abnormal phenomenon , especially,the new
equipment operation, if you are unskilled to operate ,regulate, and lack of control ,more problem
may arise. Now, we conclude a list as follow, it contains the possible reasons and remedial
measures, for reference when operating .
