Analysis

Directions: Using the concepts learned, answer the following questions that
follow.

A. Interpretation of Data/Statistical Result

1. What is the computed t – Test value for the two correlated group?

12.437

2. As compared to tabulated value of t, is it higher, equal or lower?

 HIGHER

3. What is the computed t – Test value for the two independent samples?

 0.779

4. As compared to tabulated value of t, is it higher, equal or lower?

 LOWER

B. Hypothesis Testing
1. Based on the comparison of computed test value and tabulated value for
two correlated groups, which hypothesis is to be accepted?
Which hypothesis is to be rejected?

 If the absolute value of the t-value is greater than the critical value,
you reject the null hypothesis. Since the computed/calculated t is
larger than t critical, alternative hypothesis is accepted and null
hypothesis is rejected.

2. Based on the comparison of computed test value and tabulated value for
two independent samples, which hypothesis is to be accepted?
Which hypothesis is to be rejected?

 If the absolute value of the t-value is less than the critical value, you
fail to reject the null hypothesis. Since the computed/calculated t is

less than t critical, null hypothesis is accepted and alternative
hypothesis is rejected.

C. Drawing Conclusion
1. Based on the result of t – Test for two correlated group, what conclusion
can you draw based from the findings?

The dependent t-test (also called the paired t-test or paired-samples t-test)
compares the means of two related groups to determine whether there is a
statistically significant difference between these means. Correlated group has a
greater vcritical value than the two independent samples.

2. Based on the result of t – Test for two independent samples, what

conclusion can you draw based from the findings?

The Independent Samples t Test compares the means of two independent

groups in order to determine whether there is statistical evidence that the
associated population means are significantly different. The Independent Samples t
Test is a parametric test.

Questions:
1. Which type of t – test is most applicable to test the hypothesis? Why do you say
so?

 If you are studying a group, use a paired t test to compare the group mean
with time or after an intervention, or a t test of a sample to compare the

group mean to a standard value. If you're studying two groups, use a t-test
of two samples. If you want to know only if there is a difference.

2. At 5% (α = 0.05) level of significance, the computed t value of the given set of

data is 4.04. With a degree of freedom (df) value of 18 its t – critical value is
2.101. Will you accept or reject the hypothesis? Why?

 Accept the null hypothesis because t – value is numerically lower than the t
– tabular or critical value.

3. What conclusion can you draw based from the result?

 There is a significant difference in the treatment, with the old machine

having higher results compared to new machine.
