1.1 Visual checks
Titrator DL15/DL22F&B
These operations do not require the instrument to be opened. Perform the checks and fill the form
"Preventive Maintenance Checklist" on last page of this SOP.
Component Checks
Titrator • Check the power cable has no defects and is securely attached to the
external power pack.
• Check the connection cable and plug has no defects and is securely
attached to the titrator.
• Check the On/Off switch for smooth operation.
• Check all screws for a tight fit.
• Check all sockets of the boards for secure attachment and stability.
• Check the plastic housing of the titrator for contamination with
chemicals, cracks and discolorations.
• Check the burette and burette drive for contamination with chemicals.
• Check for visible defects and cracks of the driver head and burette
arrestment system of the built-in burette drive, and for a defective
scraper ring on the piston rod.
Titration stand • Check the condition of the titration arm for mechanical damages,
stability of the sensor, and contamination with chemicals.
Documentation • Identify the titrator model and record its serial number, location and date
of performing the Preventive Maintenance.
• Sign and put the date at the bottom of the Preventive Maintenance
Checklist.
Battery voltage • Check the voltage of the battery. Replace it, when necessary.
Piston and valve of • Switch on the titrator and verify that the burette drive and stopcock
burette drive drive initialize correctly and move to their standby positions
• Adjust the burette with a burette holder (ME-23645).
• Push the burette onto the titrator so that the piston stem is centered
in the piston rod slot.
Display test • Perform the test using the path: Service > User interface > Screen
test (test ends automatically after two cycles)
Keypad test • Perform the test using the path: Service > User interface >
Keyboard test
Beeper test • Perform the test using the path: Service > User interface > Beeper
test. Verify that acoustic signal is made by the titrator.
• Perform the test of the sensor inputs and record the results in the
Test Report (a template for making a photocopy is at the end of this
Sensor inputs document).
A distinction is made between the service function, which are available to the service specialist and
the functions in the System test menu (“I” key > System test), which enable the user to carry out a
simple maintenance unaided. The text in the “i” menu can be displayed in several languages,
whereas the service functions are only in English.
Service functions are used for checking, calibrating and adjusting of the titrator. The maintenance
functions are for verifying the proper operation of the instrument.
Please allow the instrument, the Digital Voltmeter a warm-up time of at least 30 minutes
before the testing and adjustment is carried out.
• Perform the test according to the code table below: every key displays its internal code and the
beeper sounds briefly.
Key codes for testing of the single keys
• Read the displayed value on the DVM and enter it in the table “Offset voltage of the measuring
amplifier”.
• Press “OK” to exit the measurement.
• Connect the resistor to the KF input using an adapter cable and the DVM parallel to the resistor.
• Enter 10.0 and press “OK”.
• Read the displayed value on the DVM and enter it in the table “Slope of measuring amplifier”.
• Press “Stop” to exit the measurement.
