We student nurses appreciate deeply the importance of Human Anatomy and Physiology since
understanding and building basic knowledge about what our body looks like and how it function
respectively, is essential.

In the unparalleled and extraordinary public health emergency in which we find ourselves, across
the world, we student nurses preparing ourselves as a future front liners. The coronavirus or COVID19
pandemic is the defining global health crisis of our time and the greatest challenge we have faced
today. We student nurses will study about Human Anatomy and Physiology today in order for us to be
prepared in the coming. Understanding and building basic knowledge about these courses will able us
to know what are the necessary and essential in life.
As we contemplate the ramifications of this rapidly moving global pandemic, it is clear that the
need for nurses has never been greater. In responding to this dire and unprecedented health crisis, as
student nurses, we are learning Human Anatomy and Physiology not only for us to learn things but
also to help people in our surroundings understand how our body works. In the fight against COVID‐
19, I have seen many health care professionals working against the clock. I have seen how confident
doctors, nurses and other health workers to fight this pandemic because they master and knew what
to do. It is clear that this health crisis will not affect everyone in the same way. People have normal
and abnormalities in their body that’s why the need of basic knowledge is vital for us future nurses.
Earlier this year, Hong Kong was one of the first places in the world affected by the COVID‐19 virus,
evoking unwanted memories of the SARS outbreak of 2003 (Smith, Ng, & Ho Cheung Li, 2020). Despite
initial fears, the spread of the virus appeared to have been effectively controlled over the last two
months because health care professionals knew how the body works and to handle such situations. I
presume that if all of us knew what are the basic things to do like practice of good personal hygiene,
how our body works, and basic knowledge about Human Anatomy and Physiology we can fight this
pandemic.
We are all living it right now. As a student nurse all I can do now is to study and master Human
Anatomy and Physiology since I want to be in the front line someday. I have learned that learning this
courses will allowed me to help patients, costumers and individuals confidently.
