PREFACE
The religious tourism constitutes the dominant form of tourism in India. In Himachal Pradesh
religious tourism has a important value in the tourism and also in the belief and culture of the local
people. In Himachal Pradesh religious tourism has been a prime attraction for devotees. It is home
to some of the prominent pilgrimage centers nestled amid breathtaking natural surroundings.
Responsible pilgrimage tourism is amid to minimize unhygienic practices by the tourist at various
temples of Kangra valley in Himachal Pradesh. Popular tourism has inflicted harm upon dhara (the
mother earth) and dharohara (heritage) both. The greater objective of pilgrimage tourism is
"Healing the Earth" through the means of eco spirituality a way of life in harmony with health of
the Earth. Pilgrims are the special tourists that have purpose is to visit the place where they become
involved in the religious activities, that is how the group pilgrimage tourists.
In the religious tourism in the proper and responsible tourists can be perform there tourism activity
in the ecofriendly and well hygiene ways. In Himachal Pradesh, kanga there can be the devotees
and tourists are come from across the global to visit the pilgrimage centers. Some of the pilgrimage
centers of Himachal Pradesh are roosted amidst breathtaking natural surroundings offering
amazing travel experience.
Religious tourism is an important part of the tourism industry it called, special interest tourism,
which usually related to the follower of particular faiths who visit locations that are considered as
holy sites. Religious sites are not only visited by the pilgrims but also visited by non-religious
tourists since they have culture, historical and religious significance. Most niche of tourism
industry is directly affected by economic instability but this religious tourism is less affected by
these economic issues because the reason for traveling is very important role in their lives so
money does not play a very vital role to stop from visiting destination. Religious tourism is the
pioneer form of tourism which has begun almost with the dawn of humanity. From the ancient
times religious destinations were not only a part of the culture
