CHECK (FLUID LEVEL) - DRAINING - FILLING : AIR CONDITIONING COMPRESSOR

N.B. : refrigerant : R134a .

There are 3 different cases :

Work on the circuit (Without leak)
Slow leak
Rapid leak

2. Work on the circuit (Without leak)

2.1. Using draining/recovery equipment with an oil dispenser
Drain the refrigerant circuit according to the instructions for the equipment used .
Measure the quantity of oil recovered.
If necessary : Replace the faulty component (Pipe - Condenser ...).
Add the same quantity of new oil when charging the refrigerant circuit.

N.B. : In the case of the replacement of a component, add the quantity of oil which corresponds to that contained in the component replaced
(If necessary : See chapter 5).

Fill the circuit with fluid R134a to the approved level (Example : 307 = 585 gr) .
2.2. Use of draining/recovery equipment without an oil dispenser
Drain the circuit via the low pressure valve (gaseous zone), very slowly to avoid draining the compressor oil.
The refrigerant circuit is charged without adding oil.

N.B. : In the case of the replacement of a component, add the quantity of oil which corresponds to that contained in the component replaced
(If necessary : See chapter 5).

3. Slow leak
As slow leaks do not cause any loss of oil, the same method should be used as for repairs without a leak.

4. Rapid leak
Work undertaken as the result of an impact, failure of a constituent in the cold loop, etc..
This type of incident can produce a loss of oil, as well as cause the circuit to breathe.

N.B. : It is not possible to determine the exact quantity of oil drained off.

Perform the following operations :

Replace the drier reservoir , the drying cartridge or the condenser/drying cartridge assembly (According to model)
Empty as much oil as possible when replacing the faulty component

03/11/2020 307 - C5HD1HF1 - Check (Fluid level) - Draining - Filling : Air conditioning compressor
Before or during charging of the refrigerant circuit, add 80 cm3 of new oil to the circuit.

5. Replacement : Components (Air conditioning circuit)

5.1. compressor
Remove the old compressor.
Drain - Measure : Component replaced .
Drain the new compressor (supplied full of oil) to leave in it the same quantity of new oil as there was in the old compressor.
The refrigerant circuit is charged without adding oil.
5.2. Components of the circuit (Not : compressor)
When filling the system with refrigerant fluid, add the quantity of oil which corresponds to that which the component replaced contained.

Component replaced Oil quantity ( cc)

Dehydrator filter 15
Pipes 5,0 ( per linear metre)
(/) evaporator 40
Condenser 40

Position the compressor vertically (Clutch upwards) .
Turn the assembly (4) some ten revolutions (Oil draining into the cylinder head) .
Remove the plugs (3).

Figure : C5HP126C

Allow the oil to drain from the compressor.

Measure the quantity of oil recovered.
Compare the quantity recovered with the quantity recommended by the manufacturer.

N.B. : A variable quantity of oil (depending on the type of compressor) remains in the compressor.

Fill the compressor with the same quantity of new oil via the filler orifice (Same quantity as that recovered during draining) .
Refit the drain cap (1) - New oiled seal and clean seatings (Tightening torque to 2.0 ± 0.3 da.Nm - Using the tool [1]) .

7. Oils : Precaution to be taken

Imperative :
The compressor lubricant is very hygroscopic
Use new lubricant after repairs

Only oils to be used :

SP20 (Fixed capacity compressor : SANDEN)
SP10 (Variable capacity compressor : SANDEN)
Air conditioning compressor DELPHI : Use DELPHI oil (Only)

These oils do not mix and cannot be combined : Risk of the compressor failing.
