Module 2: Essential Aspects of a Community

INTRODUCTION:

People from all over the world had been trying their best to have a better
community since the beginning of humanity. Taking the time and effort to understand
each essential aspect of the community will enable us to more efficient and productive
individuals.
OBJECTIVES:

1. Identify the different aspects of community and factors to be explored.


2. Analyze the least developed aspects of your community.
3. Apply the most important roles and functions of a leader in a community.

ACTIVITY 1:

What do you think makes your community unique? Interview three members of
your household. Summarize and write their answer in each houses figure below.

Note: Each community is described according to each structure. There are no two identical
communities throughout the country because every community has its unique characteristics.
ACTIVITY #2

Interview your relatives and ask them to describe the community’s structure
based on the following factors and analyze their responses. Summarize and
write it on the table below.

Awareness of the essential aspects of the community is necessary for aiding the
students to reflect on ways to be positively involved in its improvement. The poet John
Donne famously said, “No man is an Island,” is referring to humanity’s
interconnectedness and the belief that humans are and always be social beings.

Being aware of the structure of the community and exploring its aspects will help
the students understand the necessary measures that should be undertaken to serve as
an active member of a community. The table below represents the different aspects of
the community.

Community encompasses various aspects that include demographics, geography, and
environmental influences, beliefs and attitudes, local politics, local economy and
businesses, income distribution, housing, educational facilities and program, health and
welfare systems, sources of information, and public opinion.
In deepening ones understanding of the concept of community, it is necessary to be aware
of its aspects. By understanding these aspects, the students realize one’s contribution to the
betterment of society.
