Activity Title: Philippine Poetry from before

Learning Target: To appreciate Philippine Poetry even from the pre-colonial period by
answering some riddles (bugtong) and recalling examples of proverbs (salawikain).

Concept notes: Poetry has existed in the Philippines even before the arrival of the
colonizers. This only proves that even then, our ancestors enjoyed the art of expressing
themselves in a manner that is structured and with rhythm.

(Part I) Instructions: Read and answer the following riddles:

Heto na si Kaka, Isang butil ng palay,

bubuka-bukaka! Sakop ang buong bahay.

Sa umaga ay apat ang paa,

Dalawang batong itim,
Sa hapon ay nagiging dalawa,
malayo ang nararating.
