Lesson Discussion Forum

Questions
1. What is community needs assessment?

Community Need Assessment is a kind of survey that is conducted within the

community. The survey would be the particular people living in the coverage of
the community. It is done to find the problems or the common necessity of the
people. The purpose of it is to end or to have a corresponding solution to the
problem that the community is currently facing. In community need assessment
the respondent should answer the survey or questions with the best of their
knowledge and cogently. We need to find out the accurate conclusion of the
survey for us to have valid and acceptable solutions.

A community assessment may be limited to a compilation of demographic data

Learning Assessment

Directions: Immersing in a chosen community is not an easy task. It requires knowledge,

skills and attitudes which assure that a trainee could properly respond to
community needs. But another important thing to consider is how manageable are
the community situation and environment. The following can be possible scenarios
in the community during project implementation. As a trainee, how will you respond to
the following situations?

Situation 1
You are interviewing the head of a household during a community needs
assessment survey when all of a sudden other family members started hanging
around your interview area. Children started to be noisy. They climb your back and
pull your arms. Their parents or guardians seemed unaware that the children were
already bothering you. They went on telling their story to you about the community. What
will you do so that you can better facilitate the interview?

Let say that the protocols about the safety during the Covid19 were still implemented and
must observed. First, before I start the interview I will tell the parents that children should
have a minimum distance from you. The parents also should have a proper discussion
about the protocols. If this situation still occur, I will stay calm and have a gently
conversation with the parents and pause the interview for just a moment. I will ask them if
they don’t mind if I will rebuke the child that keep on bothering me. I know it’s just a way
on how children find me as their playmates but parents should understand that I have task

m
to accomplish with best of what I can do. Expecting that the parents will take action then I

er as
will resume in conducting the interview. After that I will acknowledge the parents or any

co
respondents for the participation.

and already assigned tasks for each person in your group. One day, some parents came
vi y re

approached your group. They expressed that the tutorial services have contributed to a
great extent in reinforcing student learning. They were happy to see college students
helping depressed communities. They praised you for your high standard of education
and told you that they wished their children could be part of the tutorial service. Despite
ed d

that you are really following the terms of your memorandum of agreement and project
ar stu

proposal, what will be your next action regarding this situation?

Being recognized and compliment by the parents is really a satisfying feeling that
paid- off all my hardship and sacrifices. It was nice to be with them in just a minimum
is

time. Regarding with the request I will let my superior to know about the concern of the
Th

parents, because knowledge is really unstoppable to those who really want to learn and
participate. If they were convinced, I will rewrite my memorandum that include their
concern and request.
