ENRICHMENT ACTIVITIES

1. Find out the children’s prior knowledge about respiration by asking the question:
Is the air we breathe in the same as the air we breathe out?

Design an experiment to challenge the children’s misconception that the


air we breathe in is the same as the air we breathe out.

2. Assumption 4 of the National Science Education Standard states:

Student understanding is actively constructed through individual and social


processes.

Develop a science activity that will address the abovementioned standard.

3. Following are the abilities necessary to make a scientific inquiry. Write a lesson
that will develop these abilities in students.
 Plan and conduct a simple investigation.
 Employ simple equipment and tools to gather data and extend the
senses.
 Use data to construct a reasonable explanation.
