Activity 1
Directions: Answer the following questions intelligently and concisely. Write your
answer in your Research notebook.

1. What comes to your mind when you think of the word “research design”? - refers to the
overall strategy you pick to combine the many components of the study in a logical and
coherent manner, assuring that you will effectively solve the research problem; it is the
blueprint for data collection, measurement, and analysis.

2. Are you going to work on old and new data in a grounded theory research
design? Why? Why not? - Yes, since qualitative data is needed. Repeated ideas, principles, or
elements emerge as researchers study the data collected, and they are marked with codes
extracted from the data. Codes may be divided into definitions, and then into groups, as more
data is collected and checked.

3. In choosing a historical design, what could prevent you from finishing your
study? - Historical designs from the past can be useful if the strategy is in line with the intended
outcomes. One that creates a barrier to the school's desires by choosing a historical style that
eliminates the desired for schooling. There are several templates that can assist you with the one
you want to go to school with, and this can be extremely beneficial.

4. Could an impatient researcher prosper under a phenomenological research

design? Why? Why not? - As a result, an impatient researcher will never succeed in this field of
study. To produce competent research data and analysis, one must develop diligence and
endurance throughout the study process. A reasonable and analytical understanding and
reasoning are required for phenomenological inquiry.

5. In what way case studies similar to ethnography and in what way they differ? - The
objective and focus of case studies and ethnography differ: case studies aim to unearth
the tacit knowledge of culture participants, whereas ethnographic studies aim to
describe the nature of phenomena through extensive research of individual situations.

Activity 3

1. Spend half a year living with the people in Ilocos Norte.

A. The ethnography research design would be the greatest fit for this
case.
B. The purpose of this study is to learn about the Ilocanos' daily
routines and behaviors.
C. To collect the data, I'll have to spend a half-year living with and
observing the inhabitants of Ilocos Norte.

2. Have patience, time, and interest in listening to battered wives and

raped victims,
A. For this case, the Phenomenological research design is the best
option.
B. This study's goal is to learn about their experiences and how they
dealt with the trauma they suffered as a result of them.
C. I'll have to interview people and allow them open up about their
experiences and how they got to where they are now in order to
collect data.

3. Know the extent of Filipinos’ penchant for white-collar jobs during the
Spanish era up to this period.
A. The historical study research design is the ideal design for this case.
B. This study's goal is to determine how long Filipinos have preferred
white-collar jobs since the Spanish era up until now.
C. I'll have to acquire material from other historical researches,
biographies, literature, and films in order to compile the facts. If
possible, I'd like to speak with historians or those who have
inherited stories from ancestors who lived during that time period.

4. Give a verbal account or portrayal of the kindergarten pupils of St.

Paul College
A. The ideal research design for this case is grounded theory research.
B. The goal of this study is to find out what happens before, during, and
after giving a verbal account to the kindergarten students at St. Paul
College.
C. In order to collect data, I'll need to give them a verbal account and
monitor their behavior before, during, and after the experiment. I could

also ask them questions about the verbal account and record their
answers.

5. Discover the reasons for the excessive aggressiveness of Dino Cruz, a

grade 4 pupil.
A. The case study research design is the optimum option for this issue.
B. The purpose of this study is to discover the causes and explanations
for Dino Cruz's extreme aggressiveness as a grade 4 student.
C. To collect data, I'll need to question the student's parents and relatives
(How is the child disciplined? I'll also need to interview the teachers who
