DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 Approved documents review -ITP, WPS, WPQR, PQT and implementing the same.
 Make sure that activities should be done in accordance with standard codes of practice, drawings, and
applicable job specifications, Quality control procedures (QCP) and Inspection and Test Plan (ITP) at the
job site.
 Submission of Quality Control documents to client and implementing the same after the approval e.g.
Procedure for control of welding consumable, method statement and WPS for cracks and NDT procedures.
 Review of all international standards specified in project specifications.e.g ASME, AWS, and ASTM...etc.
 Witnessing the welder qualification test.
 Receiving Inspection and verification of consumables.
 Verify Positive Material Identification of Low Alloy Steel, Stainless Steel, Nickel and Copper based
materials.
 Control of welding consumables storage, handling, issuance and condition.
 Pre-welding and weld joint fit up inspection, In-process weld inspection, Inspect welding of socket joint
and seal welding threads, Post welding visual inspection.
 Inspect repairing of weld joints or base metal by welding prior to weld acceptance.
 Selection of weld joints for NDT and verification of NDE method application and evaluation of results.
 Check the weekly production weld status, welder and project repair rate, welder’s repair assessment and
tracer weld.
 Post Weld heat treatment inspection and verification of hardness testing application and results.
 Modification or rework after weld acceptance.
 Final welding inspection and submission of documents (welding summary report/record and weld map).

 Review of project weld report as well as tool box meeting co-ordination to achieve weld rejection rate
(WRR) within the specific project targets.
 Witness PT/MT Inspection of the Root and final in Penetration Weld & Seal Welds as per the Code, ASME
Sec-5/AWS D1.1.
 Visual inspection of Weldments before & after welding as per the code ASME B31.3 applied.
 Re-view of Redrying / Baking Schedule of Low Hydrogen Electrodes according to the Tensile Grades,
verification of the consumable control register.
 Review of hydro package and punch list preparation.
 Familiar with Different Welding Techniques like GTAW/SMAW/GMAW/SAW/FCAW As well As
Electrodes & Filler Wires.
 Familiar with base materials like carbon steel, alloy steel, austenitic stainless steel 300 series and un listed
materials etc. also familiar with ASTM/ASME /ANSI/AISI specification/grades & standards used in the
fabrication steps.
