1-2 Starting Motor
The starting motor (address 2) drives the flywheel to crank the engine. It consists of starter
solenoid and motor.
࣭Pre-heat
When the inlet manifold temperature is below 0ࢎC [32ࢎF] at key on, the ECM will turn on
the heater and pre-heat lamp. If operators start the engine during pre-heating, the heater
will turn off to allow maximum current to be used by the starting motor.
The pre-heat time is shown in Fig.2.

࣭Post heat
After a successful of engine start, the ECM will turn on the heater for a maximum of 300
seconds and it is cycled on a schedule based on the inlet manifold temperature at key on.

1-5 Starting Switch
The starting switch (address 9) activates the circuits. The table 1 shows the contact capacity
and conduction state of the terminals.
Table 1
1-7 Alternator
The alternator (address 13) produces electrical power and supplies current to the circuits. The
buildup of alternator voltage is used to control the starter relay.

2. Engine Starting Circuits
2) With the relay contacts closed, current flows to the coil of the battery relay (address 2),
causing its contact to close. This connects the battery and each circuit to supply power.
3) If the engine stop switches PB-ER1/LS-ER1/LS-ER2 (address 24) are not pressed and the
relay ERZ is not activated, current flows to the coil of the relay ST1, causing its NO contacts
(address 5-95) to close. With the contacts closed, the engine ECM is powered.
4) When the inlet manifold temperature is below 0ࢎC [32ࢎF], the ECM will activate the heater
relay (address 7).

2-2 Starting Engine
When the starting switch is turned to the start position, switch contact connects B and C
terminal. Current flows to the coil of the starter relay (address 11), causing its contacts to
close. With the contacts closed, battery voltage is delivered to the starter solenoid (address 2)
and starter motor rotates to crank the engine. ࠉ

2-3 After Starting Engine
1) After the engine started, the alternator (address 13) generates electricity. When buildup of
alternator voltage reaches 12V, the relay ENR1 and ENR2 (address 12) are energized.
2) When the relay ENR1 is energized, the NC contacts (address 10) open. Current stop flowing
to the starter relay, causing its contact to open. Thus the starting motor stop operation. The
starting motor will not operate while the engine is running.
3) When the relay ENR2 is energized, the NO contacts (address 23 and 78) close, causing the
timer AOT, RT (address 22), KT (address 23) and the solenoid valve AO (address 78) to be
energized.
4) The contacts of the timer AOT (address 78) open 30 seconds after the relay coil is energized.
The NC contact of the relay AO (address 78) remains closed during timing, causing the
solenoid valve AO to be activated, releasing pressure in the receiver tank.
5) When the hydraulic oil temperature is below 25ࢎC [77ࢎF], the hydraulic oil preheat control
will automatically start after preset time of the timer KT (address 23) has passed (2 minutes).

2-4 Stopping Engine
1) When the starting switch is turned off, switch contact disconnect B and BR terminal. The relay
ESA (address 16) is de-energized, causing its NO contacts (address 3 and 24) to open.
2) With the contacts opened, current to the coil of the relay ST1 is cut off, causing its NO contacts
(address 5-95) to open. Current to the engine ECM is cut off, causing the engine to shut off.
3) The NO contact of the timer GT (address 5) remains closed for 5 seconds, leave the battery
relay energized and continue supplying power to the circuits.

3-3 Emergency Shutdown Control
When one of the following conditions exist, the relay ST1 (address 1-24) will be de-energized,
causing its NO contacts (address 5-95) to open. As a result, the engine shuts off automatically.
࣭When the hydraulic oil volume is below 130 litters [34.3 gal.].
(Hyd. oil tank capacity : 220 litters [58.1 gal.], the NO contact of the output relay 2.00
(address 4-40) will close.)
࣭When the compressor discharged air temperature reaches 120±2ࢎC [248±3.6ࢎF].
(the NO contact of the output relay 2.00 (address 4-40) will close.)
࣭When the engine oil pressure is low.
(Approx. less than 104kPa : according to the engine speed, by ECM control)
࣭When the coolant temperature reaches 111ࢎC [231.8ࢎF]. (by ECM control)
࣭When the engine speed reaches 2800 min-1. (By ECM control)
