INTRODUCTION:
Nursing as a profession in the last century has undergone a
series of important changes that, when compared to the rest of
the world, are small, but speaking at the Latin American level they
are large, since nurses have struggled and continue to struggle to
project their own identity and identity. autonomous before other
professions that by tradition and antecedents are closely related.
Fortunately for our times, the identification that the nursing staff
has with their daily work, which is caring for the patient, is
increasing, although in society there is a lot to work on

:
Role of neonatal nursing

Nursing has a leading role. It represents a very important role in continuous

surveillance of the RN and in the support and education of the family. From
all the health personnel of the NICU, is the one who most time remains with
the patient and her family. Performs specialized work, which requires both
scientific-technical knowledge as well as the humanization of care.
For neonatal nursing, it is condition sine qua non continuous training to fase
professional practice with quality, knowledge updated and according to the needs of
the patient, in order to contribute to the good evolution of the process health-disease.
It must be the fusion between knowledge,
skills and aptitudes, implementing care
based on the process of care. In this
scenario, developmental care must be
complemented by firm knowledge on
intervention and early stimulation, to achieve
a comprehensive and holistic view of the
patient. It is essential an interdisciplinary
approach that allows detect and prevent
possible motor disturbances, psychological,
cognitive and social in the future stages of
the development of the affected NB.

ABLE TO:
TO:
• Evaluate development: it is key to observe
the behaviors of the newborn, taking into
account their age gestational.
• Intervene effectively: the aim is to
facilitate the newborn a state of self-
organization, supporting and stimulating
capabilities, based on the information he same
is giving.
• Detect warning signs: these can be signs of stress, discomfort, pain, as well as
maladjustments postural, inappropriate tone, lack or excess of movement.
• Facilitate a favorable environment: the decrease of noxious stimuli is essential
for a conducive development.

Nursing Communication
Acts - Newborn
It involves seeing, touching, hearing and
feeling the newborn, as well as qualified
personnel with elements of love and
empathy; to be able to detect the
physical, biological and affective needs
since the newborn expresses her
feelings and emotions with a non-verbal
language.
It is very important to develop non-verbal
communication skills, in addition to
combining art, knowledge of technology,
treatment and procedures performed on
the newborn with the focus of individualization and flexibility of these care
The act of nurse-neonate communication is a key and fundamental element in their
care.

WHAT THINGS CAN BE DETERMINED FROM

NEONATAL NURSING?
If your baby was born
prematurely or with a serious
illness, injury, or birth defect, a
neonatologist may be present
at the time of delivery and
during subsequent newborn
care. If a problem is identified
before your baby is born, a
neonatologist may be involved,

stopped, such as certain syndromes or
illnesses that can affect the entire life of
the individual if they are not treated from
the first 28 days.
Ethics In The Neonatal Nursing Profession
• We define the ethics in the nursing profession for the care of the maternal and
neonatal critical patient as the professional activity carried out in a stable and
honest way, with morality and duty to the service that it gives to the mother
and neonate for its own benefit, driven by the vocation and dignity that
corresponds to the human being.
• It is constituted with the code of ethics by a systematized set of principles,
directive norms and duties that guide the professional practice of nurses
• This being the ethical framework for the professional practice of nursing in the
care of the mother and the newborn.
• Bioethics is known as that branch of ethics that is concerned with
promulgating the principles that the conduct of an individual in the field should
observe. Although, bioethics is not only reduced or limited to understanding
in what concerns the medical field, but also usually understands, also, in
those moral problems that arise in the passing of life.

ETHICAL VIOLATIONS IN THE CARE OF
THE NEWBORN:

• Impersonal treatment without a manifestation of affection

and respect for the newborn.
• Non-gentle maneuvers with the newborn.
• Unnecessary separation of the newborn and the mother.
• Rigid breastfeeding or early weaning schedules
• Abuse of technology.
• Use of invasive procedures.
• Abandonment and indifference to the newborn who dies
• Evasive so as not to face responsibilities in care.
• Insensitivity to pain.

Conclusion
With this work we want to highlight the role of a nurse who works
in a neonatology service that applies the science and art of care,
as a non-delegable activity of our profession that we provide to
hospitalized newborns, who are totally dependent. Currently,
nursing professionals have a priority and important task, which is
to clarify and consolidate our professional identity.
