• Gift giving
Gifts and gift giving are very important to Filipinos. We express our love and
affection for the recipient through gifts. We make certain that our gift not only
looks nice but also serves a purpose for the recipient.
• Dining etiquette
When it comes to dining etiquette in a formal setting, most Filipino families
are very strict. When it comes to the dinner table, most families dress modestly
and use good manners. During eating sessions, we frequently have a sitting
plan and use polite words such as "please" and "thank you."
• Business negotiation
Filipinos avoid confrontation at any cost. They find it difficult to say 'no.'
Similarly, their 'yes' could simply mean 'possibly.' Decisions are frequently
made based on feelings rather than facts, which is why it is critical to cultivate
a diverse network of personal relationships.
• Dress etiquette
Filipinos believe that how we dress reveals a lot about who we are as people
and our social standing. We make every effort to appear neat and modest at
all times. We are also concerned with how others perceive us, which is why we
dress conservatively.
• Five folkways.
Filipinos are extremely respectful of their elders. When we address them,
we use “po” and “opo”. We are taught at a young age to bless their hands as a
sign of respect. We are often very helpful to our neighbors and practice the
bayanihan in our community. When it comes to courtship, men are often pay
respect to women through harana and pamamanhikan.
