THE IRISH ARMY IN TEAM YANKEE

This is a completely fantastical portrayal of the Republic of

Ireland, Northern Ireland and the UK during the 1980s.
This army has been written with a backstory of Ireland
building ties with the Soviet Union after a radical socialist
government takes power there. Britain accidentally
launches a cruise missile at Wexford, and this sparks a
diplomatic crisis that the radical Irish government uses as
a pretext for war against Great Britain and Northern
Ireland. Basically, this is EIRE versus the British. I have
written this just so a friend of mine can play as Irish Army.

USE FRENCH CAVALRY SQUADRONS OR FRENCH VAB COMPANIES AS IRISH

DETATCHEMENTS, WITH NO NON IRISH UNITS IN THEM. ADD SCORPIONS, 105MM
ARTILLERY AND JEEPS AS 1 OFF SUPPORT UNITS, COUNTING AS SUPPORT.

INFANTRY AND HQs:

Irish HQ Team = French HQ FAMAS Team, costing 1 point. They come with one transport.

Irish infantry = French infantry that cannot take APILAS or MILAN weapons.
They ride in ‘Timoney APCs’ which are much like french VABs except with a turret.

RECON:
Modified Panhard AML = AMX-10 RC - French.

Scorpion = British version.

Jeep = Israeli stats.

The Irish seem to favour light utility vehicles and have quite a few of these with HMGs
mounted on them.

ANTI-TANK:
AT Jeep = Israeli TOW jeeps
The Irish had a small number of MILANs that could be deployed in jeeps

AA:
RBS-70 SAM Team = .Dutch Stinger platoons
The RBS-70 is a robust and large AA missile system.

ARTILLERY:
105 artillery that we assume is towed = counts as an Abbot (just be nice).

AIR SUPPORT:
SIAI-Marchetti SF.260 fighter-bomber = Gazelle 20mm - French.
These things are only 20mph faster than most helis and have just cannons. As they usually
dive onto a target in an attack I assume the gunslinger rule fits this.
