SPEAKING SESSION / WORKSHOP LESSON PLAN


Name of the activity / workshop: Likes and Dislikes
Level: A1 Teacher: Steven Kadir

 During this speaking preparation the students will practice the speaking skill in different
communicative situations.

COMMUNICATIVE  The students can express their opinions about others and several situations they like
OBJECTIVES AND and dislike.
LINGUISTIC PURPOSE
 The students are able to maintain a conversation asking and answering questions
related to their personal opinion.
 The students use the appropriate vocabulary and grammar related to the current
workshop.

The workshop lesson will be divided into three stages, in which the topic is going to be presented and
taught through different activities:

1. Warming-up and presentation of the speaking preparation: In this stage the students are going to
introduce themselves to the other people and the teacher is going to present the workshop asking the
TIMELINE / SESSION opinion some of the learners have about different images and daily situations everybody has
MANAGEMENT experienced (public transportation, bad habits, familiar problems, professional situations, dilemmas,
emergencies, etc.) (25 minutes)

2. Presentation of the grammar and common mistakes people have with the topic: In this stage, the
teacher is going to present some images about the daily situations everybody has to face and he is going
to express his personal opinion in order to give some examples about the first part of the grammar used
in the workshop. Thus, the students are going to express their opinions and share some stories about
those daily situations they have faced. Also, the teacher is going to present a video which contains other
useful expressions people can use when they want to give their opinions or ideas about several topics.
(30 minutes)

3. Practice & Feedback: Later, the teacher is going to organize the students in pairs, so they have to
maintain short conversations about different topics with a time limit, after the time limit they are going
to change the pair they are talking to and the activity continues. In these situations they have to use the
grammar and vocabulary presented and after each intervention, they are going to share their opinion
about the activity and the possible questions or mistakes they have found in each conversation.
Meanwhile, the teacher will pay attention to their intervention in order to give an accurate and
individual feedback to improve the learners’ speaking skills, that feedback is given in pieces of paper to
each student and socialize at the end of the speaking session. (35 minutes)
